    1. Hi, the makeup case was an exclusive gift with purchase for the Nordstrom Topanga Canyon Trend Event last month. They sold out for the event, and were only available for the event (either through pre-sale, or during the event itself). Hopefully they will have something similar next time, and I will be sure to post it as soon as they give me the information. :)

  4. Hey Lola,

Have you heard of anything about Barney's Love Yourself event for Fall 2013?

I skipped on NM, SpaceNK thinking I'd do the damage at Barney's..... I hope its still happening!

    1. Hi Jaly!! I am waiting to hear back from Barneys- there are murmurings out there that it will be in October, but this has not been confirmed by Barneys. As soon as I hear from them I will post the information. I wish that I could say that I skipped NM and SpaceNK, but I went nuts at both!!!!!!!!!

I can't imagine that Barneys would skip their Love Yourself bag event. I know that the BH store is still in the midst of construction (moving the cosmetics dept. to the basement)- so they wouldn't be ready for such a big event during this time. :-)

  5. Hi Brenda,

I have no idea what video you are referring to. :-( Can you send me a link to it so I can take a look? I don't make videos demonstrating products and how they are used, but I do periodically post videos made by the companies who make the products that I am reviewing. You aren't the first person to ask about this video or serum, and therefore I would like to figure out which product you are referring to. :-) I just saw your email as well, and you would definitely need to contact the company directly to become an affiliate. I am very curious about this mystery product! :-)

  6. Received an email that Barney's is no longer accepting their CC and is closing out all accounts as of 1/1/2020. I think their Love Yourself event was the their last big push and now....their doors are going to close. So sad. Do you have info as to what is happening?

    1. Hi DivaMum,

Yes, ABG, who bought BNY, stopped accepting the Barneys CC on Friday, November 1 (which is the day that they legally became owners of the company). I think that you are right that the LOVE YOURSELF event ended up being their last big event, and I am incredibly sad about that as well. From what I understand, ABG, who started the liquidation sale this week, plans to run what they are calling a "closing sale" through the holidays, and then close each of the remaining stores. Apparently they plan to reopen the Madison Avenue location with a smaller footprint and turn it into a series of Pop-Ups and creative and artistic spaces. I get the impression that these spaces won't necessarily be BNY related, but it isn't really clear. The stores themselves have signage that reads, "Store Closing Sale. Goodbuys, Then Goodbye” and “Everything Must Be Sold! Goodbuys, Then Goodbye.” Therefore, I think that it is safe to say, that Barneys as we know it will be know more. However, ABG is supposed to license the Barneys New York name to Saks Fifth Avenue, and apparently they are dedicating the 5th floor of their NYC flagship to Barneys New York, and will have a store-within-store at select Saks Fifth Avenue locations. What all of this will look like, I guess we will just have to wait to see. At this point the "closing sale" is 5-10% off in-store and online– though they are offering special "exclusive sale prices" to their most loyal customers, and they sale price are supposed to get better late on.

The whole thing is just so sad, and I for one am mourning the end of BNY as we have known it.

    2. It explains why I never heard back from a few SA's as well; they knew what was happening as this was days before 11/1. I'm also wondering how some specific brands will be purchased as BNY was the only place to sell them. I look at items I have and remember speaking to people I'll never speak to or see again; so sad for them. I agree, the BNY we knew and loved is gone.

    3. I don't get the impression that the SA's know very much about what is going on, or how long they will remain employed. I think that it really depends upon how long it takes for the stores to sell through their inventory. I imagine that the lower volume stores will likely close sooner than the more profitable ones. Barneys New York employees had really hoped that Sam Ben-Avraham and his investors would have come to the table with a viable bid so that they could keep many of the stores open, and stay employed, rather than the liquidation and licensing route that ABG took. That didn't happen, so it's really hard to know how all of this will shape up. For people like us, who shopped there and loved BNY, it's just sad. I suspect that we will see much more of this to come as brick and mortar stores need to stay inventive and ahead of the curve to remain relevant places where consumers spend their money. I was talking to my friend's teenage daughter, and she told me that she and her friend's never go to the mall to wander and shop, and that they do all of their shopping online, and spend their time doing other things instead. This trend has become so pervasive, and I think that retailers are going to need to address it by doing really interesting things in-store for people to make the effort to go to brick and mortar locations.

  7. Agree on so many points. The investors haven't made it easy to purchase from the stores that are opening either; I get a funny sound every time I've called a store. Perhaps they only want sales via online or in person.

My sons and their friends do go to the mall (maybe it's a guy thing, lol). I know that at one upscale mall near me they have had some very serious issues with teens hanging out; to the point that any teen not with an adult as of 6pm MUST register and wear a colored bracelet. With the holidays approaching it will get worse (it always does).

    1. That's so strange, and not a very inviting way to shop. Plus at this point the discounting is so low that I think a lot of people are just waiting to see how far they discount what's left.

Interesting that your sons and their friends still go to the mall, that is reassuring that perhaps malls won't become extinct! Wow, the colored bracelets is such a strong position to take to try to prevent teenage loitering at the malls after 6PM! I haven't heard of this before!
