If you want to give a gift that supports a good cause, then consider purchasing a membership to your local county museum, botanical garden, public radio station (like NPR and KUSC) or public TV station (like PBS). This type of gift will give your loved-one something that they will enjoy, and you can feel good about supporting excellent programming that relies on the public's generosity to operate. For years I watched so many of the excellent shows on my local PBS station, and I finally donated to them (donations are tax-deductible), and I am so happy that I did. Incidentally, PBS members receive their streaming service, PBS Passport, and it offers spectacular programming (including lots of amazing British shows). Happy Valentine's & Galentine's Day!
