I have always loved potato chips, but I definitely have a preference for organic chips to the big-brand chemical-laden versions. Aside from the fact that they tend to be a bit healthier, I also prefer the taste. I was recently introduced to Humble Organic Potato Chips, and they taste delicious, are certified organic and they even come in a compostable plastic-free bag! This wonderful Canadian company, which was started by Alicia and Jeff Lahey, is environmentally conscious and engaged, and their sustainability practices are enviable.

We use only locally farmed, organic potatoes, cut slightly thicker than regular chip while leaving the skin on. We cook them traditionally before gently dusting them with the all-natural, organic seasonings created by our certified Potato Chip Chef. Then we pop them into 100% compostable bags so that when you’re finished snacking, you can toss our bag into your green bin and give back to the earth.

Humble Organic Potato Chips flavors: The Original, Smokey BBQ, Creamy Dill, Sea Salt and Cider Vinegar and Honey Mustard (5 oz. for $4.69 from Amazon): The seasonings for each of their potato chips were created by an internationally certified chef, they use the entire potato (including the skins), and therefore there is zero waste, and the chips are light and crispy because they are traditionally cooked in (rather than kettle cooked). Unlike kettle cooking, where the chips are batch-cooked in cooler oil, their chips are cooked on a conveyer belt in a traditional manner. They are cooked in a light, high oleic organic sunflower oil. The flavors of the three flavored varieties perfectly reflected their indicated flavors, but with a refinement not typically tasted in potato chips.
