I recently discovered an incredible brand, FABA, that features stunning wearable art made by Ane Howard. She is a multimedia artist, from Southern California, whose artistic practice informs her distinctive wearable art. Self-taught artist and ecofashion designer Ane Howard describes her works as 'the expression of ideas and emotions sourced directly from my life and the culture I live in and a reflection of my personal growth.' Merging her love of abstract and figurative expressionism with the artist's decades of artistic exploration in different forms such as dance, theater, film, and writing, the works presented in Summer 2021 at the International Art Museum of America are Howard's major independent work of the past two years.

FABA Ziptop Handcrafted Handbag in Periwinkle is a gorgeous bag made from supple upcycled leather from Italy, and it is handmade in London. The logo, which was hand-drawn by Ane, is on just one side of the bag. The bag is a generous size, 18.5" x 12.2" x 5.7", and therefore it accommodates a tremendous amount of clothing, books, or whatever you need to carry (in the picture above, I have crammed it full of clothing for a weekend trip). Its durability, excellent construction and the materials used means that it can carry a lot of weight without compromising the integrity of this handbag. The top of the bag is secured by a zipper, and the long leather handles allow the bag to fit nicely under the arm. It features a zipper compartment inside, but also 3 open pockets, and therefore things do not tend to get lost (as they often do in large cavernous bags).

The bottom is thoughtfully designed with 5 metal feet that protect the leather bottom of the bag.

The interior is spacious, and since the zipper opens completely, one is able to utilize all of the interior space, and it is easy to access larger items.

Every single detail is thoughtfully conceived, including the charming metal heart pull from the interior zipper compartment.

Overall Assessment: This is such a gorgeous handmade handbag, and I can use it for overnight trips, daily use and whenever I have a lot to carry! The quality is exquisite, the craftsmanship is superb and it is stunning in every way. Additionally, it is a sustainable product made from upcycled Italian leather, and this type of eco-consciousness is something we need a lot more of in this era! A+
