Derma e Microdermabrasion Scrub ($32.50 for 2 oz. from derma e, Ulta, Birchbox): is a wonderfully effective facial scrub. This exfoliator features tiny, and densely populated, exfoliating particles suspended in a creamy base that has enough grit to sweep away dead skin cells effortlessly. The formula is gentle,  effective and non-stripping. Skin is left soft, silky smooth, supple and refreshed. It is a very concentrated formula– so this 2 oz. jar should last a long time unless you are using it on your face and body. Derma e suggests that it can be used on your hands, elbows, heels, knees– or anywhere you need to exfoliate rough skin, and I definitely agree that it is quite effective on rough skin in those regions as well. 

Directions: Use twice a week. Apply to wet skin. Gently scrub desired areas in circular motion for up to 1 minute. For sensitive skin, less pressure is recommended. Rinse thoroughly with warm water. Pat dry.

Derma E Feulic Acid Resurfacing Pads ($24.95 for 50 pads from Derma E and Ulta): I am a big fan of effective exfoliating pads, and this one offers exceptional quality and efficacy. This unique blend of ingredients pairs antioxidant-rich Resveratrol with Kojic Acid to protect skin from free radicals while exfoliating dead skin cells. This anti-aging exfoliant helps to fade hyperpigmentation and acne scars, and it brightens the complexion.

Derma E Essentials Radiance Toner ($14.95 for 6 oz. from Derma E and Ulta): This alcohol-free toner exfoliates dead skin cells to reveal brightened and toned skin. Furthermore, it leaves skin soft, smooth and delightfully radiant.

Directions: Apply to a cotton pad and sweep gently over face and neck after cleansing, avoiding eye area. Use in the morning and evening to prep skin for your favorite DERMA E Moisturizer.

Clear skin must-haves:

Derma e Purifying Gel Cleanser with Marine Algae and Activated Charcoal ($15.50 for 6 oz. from derma e, Birchbox and Whole Foods Market): This dark gray, charcoal-laden, lathering cleanser effectively draws out impurities and deeply cleans the skin without stripping it. It refreshes the skin and hydrates, and leaves skin soft and supple. This is an ideal daily cleanser for people with combination to oily skin, and those who battle breakouts. It can also be used as needed by people who periodically want to draw out impurities, I don't think that it is ideally suited for dryer skin types.

Directions: Gently lather over face and neck, then rinse thoroughly with water. Use morning and evening. Follow with derma e® Purifying Toner Mist and your favorite derma e® moisturizer.

Derma E Purifying Daily Detox Scrub ($15.50 for 4 oz. from Derma E and Birchbox): This is a highly effective exfoliant that gently lifts dead skin cells and dirt leaving skin clean, clear and radiant. The exfoliating particles are small in size, and they are gentle enough against the skin that one could use this scrub on a daily basis, or as needed, for oilier skin types. For my normal to combination skin, I find that I only need to use this scrub once or twice a week to see all of the benefits. While the Menthol, Glyceryl Stearate Citrate is toward the middle of the list of ingredients, it only offers the faintest tingle to the skin, and serves to be refreshing rather than irritating. This scrub is very well-suited for combination to oily skin.

Directions: Apply a small amount to wet or dry skin and gently massage in circular motions. Rinse thoroughly with warm water and pat dry. Gentle enough for daily use.

Ingredients: Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Cetyl Alcohol, Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Seed Powder, Glycerin, Coco-Caprylate, Charcoal Powder, Fucus Vesiculosus (Bladderwrack) Extract, Undaria Pinnatifida (Wakame, Kimarine®) Extract, Organic Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract* (.1%), Menthol, Glyceryl Stearate Citrate, Xanthan Gum, Diheptyl Succinate, Capryloyl Glycerin/Sebacic Acid Copolymer, Menthyl Lactate, Potassium Cetyl Phosphate, Glyceryl Stearate SE, Coco-Glucoside, Glyceryl Oleate, Iron Oxide, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin.

Derma E Purifying 2-in-1 Charcoal Mask ($19.50 Derma E, Target and Birchbox): This 2-in-1 charcoal and clay mask not only draws out impurities, debris and excess sebum as many clay masks do, but it also contains exfoliating particles that sweep away dead skin cells. Simply apply it as a traditional clay mask, let it dry after about 5 minutes, then wet fingers and gently massage mask in a circular motion in order to activate the exfoliant. Skin is left remarkably clean, decongested and radiant. I neither find it stripping, nor uncomfortable on the skin. However, the refreshing peppermint tingle from the Menthyl Lactate, which is an ester of menthol and lactic acid, may be too active for people with particularly sensitive skin. For my normal/combination skin it is refreshing and exhilarating, and not in the least bit drying or irritating.

Directions: Apply a generous amount of mask to a clean face, avoiding the eye and lip area. Leave on for 5 minutes or until the mask is completely dry. Moisten fingertips, then massage the mask into your skin with gentle circular motions to activate the exfoliants. Concentrate on areas that can be especially congested, such as the nose, chin, and forehead. Rinse thoroughly or remove with a damp cloth. Pat skin dry. Use 1 to 2 times a week for best results.
