Derma E is such an amazing, and affordable cruelty-free brand, that at this point I could barely list all of their products that I have on my love list. A few weeks ago I reviewed and swatched their Derma E Tinted Moisturizing BB Cream SPF 30 in Light, and I had so many requests to swatch their Fair shade that I decided to feature it today.
As previously noted, the Derma E Tinted Moisturizing BB Cream SPF 30 is not a tinted moisturizer, but instead a tinted moisturizing BB cream– thus it is a moisturizing BB cream. This is an important distinction to make because tinted moisturizers and BB creams are not the same thing. The former is often just what it sounds like a lightweight, light coverage skin tint and moisturizer combined. The latter, instead, is more of a multipurpose tinted cream that offers light to medium coverage, a built-in primer, a sunscreen, and in this case a moisturizer as well.
The coverage is lightly buildable, and this one definitely has a slightly thicker consistency, often associated with BB creams, and yet it feels light as a feather on the skin. Once it tried down it has a matte finish, but not of the dry or uncomfortable variety that feels as though it is gripping the skin. It is very concentrated, and therefore a little goes a long way, but you will still need to reapply it, or your sunscreen throughout the day in order to keep your skin protected.
It contains a non-nano physical/mineral sunscreen, Zinc Oxide (20%), with the Sun Protection Factor of 30, but it does not create an unwanted white cast. The antioxidant-rich formula, which fights free-radicals, features ingredients such as Bilberry, Vitamins C and E "to help moisturize the skin"– which they do brilliantly!
According to Derma E,
Meet your match. Our multi-tasking, lightweight tinted moisturizing BB cream helps to prime, hydrate, illuminate, and protect skin. Your skin tone color changes with season and occasion. Mix our BB Creams to blend and find your perfect color, every day.
Formulated with mineral non-nano zinc oxide to help protect skin from harmful UVA/UVB sun rays. Infused with antioxidant-rich Bilberry, Vitamins C and E to help moisturize and nourish the skin while minimizing the appearance the fine lines and wrinkles.
Directions: Step 1: Mix & Apply. Use the Tinted Moisturizing BB Cream as the last step of your skin care regime. Squeeze an adequate amount onto fingers. Step 2: Blend Apply in order, using your fingers to blend in a circular motion and build evenly: cheek, forehead, nose, chin and neck. 3 different ways to apply BB cream: Fingertips, Blender sponge and a Stippling brush.
Derma E Tinted Moisturizing BB Cream SPF 30 in Fair.
Light and Fair
Enriched with:
Vitamin C: potent antioxidant with skin brightening and anti-aging properties that may support collagen health.
Vitamin E: Helps to soothe, soften, rehydrate and condition skin while helping to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Bilberry Extract: helps to improve skin tone and signs of premature aging.
Overall Assessment: I am just so happy with this formula, and I am even more happy now because Fair is actually a much better match for my skin tone. If you are fair, then light will likely be too dark for you. If you are somewhere in-between then you might like to mix the two.

I had this fab BB cream last summer or the summer before, and I really loved it. I can’t remember if I was a Fair or Light. Often, I am in the middle and need to get both and mix them
ReplyDeleteI often have to mix shades to get the right match as well. In this case, the Fair is a better match for me, but in the summer I can mix them.
DeleteI'm really glad to see this swatch since I knew that Light wasn't going to work for me. But Fair would be excellent.
ReplyDeleteYour comment in my review of the light shade was one of the reasons that I wanted to get this review up. I know that the fair shade wouls be a better match for you, as well!
DeleteI love tinted sunscreens. Excited to try this
ReplyDeleteI do too, and this is definitely a good one!
DeleteI want to try this but I am worried Fair will be too dark! Thanks for the swatches.
ReplyDeleteI think that Fair may be a touch too dark for you, Courtney. Of course you could always lighten it by adding a lighter luminizer, and doubling up on sunscreen.
DeleteI was so bummed that even Fair was too dark for my skin tone because I LOVE the formula and how it feels on the skin :( Fantastic product!
ReplyDeleteThe formula is excellent. You could always add a lighter liquid luminizer to it, and then double up on your sunscreen to customize the shade. However, I have found that only works well if the color isn't too many shades off– otherwise you really start to alter the formula too much.
