I have been wanting to try Au Naturale High Lustre Lip Glosses for a while, and every single time that I am grocery shopping at Whole Foods Market I forget to swatch them, and end up either loading bags of groceries into my car, or driving away before I realize that I yet again forgot. This last time, however, I was so annoyed with myself for repeatedly forgetting that I went to the display before I started grocery shopping. One swatch was all it took for me to select Magnolia– which is a stunning lightly frosted luminous pink. It is, in a word, stunning!
It is a cruelty-free, 100% natural and vegan lip gloss that is filled with healthy skincare ingredients that nourish, protect and moisturize the lips. It boasts a non-sticky texture, and a silky smooth consistency, and it glides across the lips effortlessly, deposits color evenly and it has a gorgeous shimmering glossy shine. It neither migrates, nor pools in lip lines, and I get several hours of wear-time from a single application provided that I don't eat something oily (like salad dressing). It has a light semi-fruity scent and flavor, but it is neither intrusive, nor is it long-lasting.
According to Au Naturale,
Available Shades:
Nudist: a luminous nude pigment with a high sheen.
Poppy: a vibrant semi-translucent coral gloss.
Magnolia: high sheen meets lightly frosted pink pigment (shown).
Ravish: a bright pink with orchid undertones.
Dusty Crimson: a deep red wine, with subtle plum undertones.
Orchid: a muted plum pigment with a soft shimmer.
Passion Fruit: a simplistic dusty pink.
Cashmere: a muted mauve.
Ultra: a sheer electric orchid.
Slip: a barely there warm pink.
Fortune: a sheer peachy gloss with pink + gold shimmer.
About Au Naturale,Ashley Prange was working as a nuclear analyst in D.C. when she decided that going “au naturale” [makeup free] shouldn’t be her only way to avoid breakouts & irritation. She did her research, dubbed her coffee grinder a mineral mixer & set out to create makeup that would leave her skin as happy as it was after a week of nakedness. Her mission was to use exclusively healthy, natural & ethically sourced ingredients to develop a replacement for each and every product in her former beauty routine. Her skin’s new found glow didn’t go unnoticed, and it wasn’t long before she had waitlist of personalized orders from friends and colleagues. In 2011, Prange began her e-commerce business, Au Naturale Cosmetics. It has since evolved into both a brand & a cause responsible for starting a Clean Beauty Revolution all over the world.
Formulated without animal bi-products, synthetic preservatives, nano particles, gluten, parabens, fillers or toxins, our High Lustre Lip Gloss is 100% natural, cruelty-free, vegan and made in the USA.
Select Ingredients and Their Attributes:
Castor Seed Oil (Ricinus Communis): "obtained from the seeds of the Ricinus Communis plant,
this oil is primarily ricinoleic acid which inhibits the growth of many viruses, bacteria, molds, and
more, keeping our products fresh. Castor seed oil also acts as a natural barrier, keeping moisture
and pigment saturation up."
Raspberry Essential Oil (Rubus Idaeus): "this oil absorbs a range of harmful UV rays and acts as
an anti-inflammatory while high linolenic acid renders it helpful to dry skin. It also has anti-aging
benefits, holds in moisture and is a high source of Vitamin E."
Jojoba Seed Oil (Simmondisa Chinensis): "produced from the seed of organic Jojoba plants, this
“liquid wax” closely resembles the natural oils produced by the skin making it ultra-moisturizing,
easily absorbed and beneficial for all skin types."

Overall Assessment: I am so thrilled by this purchase, and am happy that I actually remembered to make it! I am definitely considering picking up another color or two because I am smitten with the formula. Next time I am going to take a look at Nudist, Slip and Fortune, and I will certainly let you know which one(s) make it into my grocery cart.

So pretty. I haven't been to Whole Foods in a year but it's obviously time for me to go see Au Naturale there. I've only had one product from them which I loved.
ReplyDeleteIt really is, and the formula is so nice! It is well worth going to Whole Foods to check these out. There are several shades that will appeal to you that are definitely worth swatching. I think that this one is an obvious color choice for your complexion. Which product have you tried from this brand? I would love to know so that I can check it out next time that I go to Whole Foods!
DeleteAh, we are on the same wavelength today with natural lippies! This shade definitely appeals to me. Would you say that it's opaque or sheer? I haven't been to WF in a while, but next trip I must check this brand out in person.
ReplyDeleteWe are definitely on the same wavelength about the natural lippies. I would say that it is somewhere between the two. Your lips definitely show through, but this has decent pigmentation. I suspect that the darker shades offer greater opacity, though. I definitely recommend taking a trip to Whole Foods to check out this brand in person. I really think that you would love the lip gloss formula. Plus their lipsticks look lovely as well. I plan to spend a little more time at their display next time I go grocery shopping (provided that I don't forget again!).
DeleteI love the shade you chose! I don't have a Whole Foods near me, darn it!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Cindy! I bet you can find it somewhere else in the Seattle area, or you could always try one from their website directly, but I can certainly understand wanting to swatch them first. I definitely wanted to see the display and check out the colors and textures. I definitely want to try more of their products now, though!
DeleteThis is one of my favorite vegan and cruelty free brands. I own tons of their lipstick and glosses
ReplyDeleteI can definitely see why, Kath. I really love this color, can you recommend a lipstick shade that you think would go well with this? I will definitely plan to spend more time at their display next time I go to Whole Foods, but since you have more experience with their products, I would love your take.
