The Makeup Wars! Team is featuring our favorite Pantone Color of the Year 2018 Ultra Violet Makeup, and I have to tell you that this was a real struggle for me. Purple has been my very favorite color my entire life, and you would think that my makeup collection would be overflowing with purple, but I was actually shocked to see how few purple products that I had. I found a few eye liner pencils, and narrowed it down to three that I reach for whenever I want to wear something other than black or dark brown. None of them are a perfect color match for Ultra Violet, but they are infinitely wearable purple pencils that are even work-friendly.

Arbonne It’s A Fine Line Pencil Eye Liner in Aubergine ($26.00 from Arbonne): This creamy, long-wearing pencil glides across the skin effortlessly, without pulling the skin, and it deposits color evenly. It neither bleeds, nor feathers, and even after a full day of wear it does not flake or transfer.
According to Arbonne, "moisturizing botanicals help support skin’s moisture barrier and help promote the appearance of fuller lashes." This purple, which is mid-tone and slightly muted, is a perfect everyday shade for anyone seeking an infinitely wearable alternative to black or brown eyeliners. This twist-up pencil also has a handy built-in sharpener located at the bottom of the pencil for convenience.

I have sensitive eyes, and therefore I tend to choose non-waterproof formulas since they tend to be more gentle, but SMASHBOX Always Sharp Waterproof Kohl Liner in Violetta ($21.00 for 0.01 oz. from SMASHBOX, Sephora, Ulta, Macy's, Nordstrom and Dillards): was quite the surprise in that it neither irritated my eyes, nor did it take tremendous effort to remove. The formula is creamy, it glides across the skin effortlessly and deposits color evenly, and it doesn't tug on the skin in the least bit. It neither transfers and migrates, nor does it flake off.

The innovative design self-sharpens each time that you twist the cap off, assuring that you have a nice pointed tip with each use. 

If you have been seeking an alternative to your standard black or brown eyeliner pencil, then Violetta is a truly gorgeous choice. It is a blackened plum that is neither too purple, nor does it have a red-undertone that can make eyes look tired. It is a gorgeous and infinitely wearable shade that has unquestionably won me over.

Painted Earth SuperWear Gel Liner in Florentine ($18.50 each from Painted Earth): Painted Earth SuperWear Gel Liners boast outstanding pigmentation, intense color saturation, soft and creamy smooth application and superior wear-time. Furthermore, the moisturizing formula is kind to the eyes, but surprisingly the emollient formula does not encourage transfer or smudging. I have found that once the liner sets it doesn't budge until you remove it, but if you have oily eyelids your wear-time may vary. Florentine is a stunning deep purple that is very flattering and well-suited for daily use.
