You may have noticed two things: that I didn't publish an Empties Post in January, and that this February post features an uncharacteristically small pile of products– particularly given my penchant for finishing up all of my mostly used products. I had that horrible flu that has been making the rounds this winter, and it left me in bed for two solid weeks, and still feeling weird for the next few weeks– even though I had resumed normal activities. During the time that I was sick I barely used any skincare products, and I didn't wear any makeup. Once I felt better, I used a few body care products and had a massive allergic reaction that left welts and a rash on my arms, legs and torso. Therefore, it is safe to say that I barely used any products in January. My February product consumption was limited to tried and true products that I have used without incident, and therefore I finished very few items.
Malin + Goetz Vitamin B5 Body Lotion ($34.00 for 8.5 oz. from Space NK, Bloomingdale's, Barneys New York and Spring): If you are seeking a lightweight and fast absorbing luxury body lotion, that is ultra-hydrating and nourishing, then you must consider trying this lotion. It is the perfect alternative to their heavier Body Moisturizer, and it leaves skin soft, smooth and intensely hydrated, and it does so without leaving behind a greasy residue. Filled with botanical fatty acids, this antioxidant-rich lotion is formulated for all types of skin– including dry and sensitive skin. It has a light, fresh botanical aroma that is very pleasant, but it does fade soon upon absorption. Would I use it again? Yes, definitely!Molton Brown Orange & Bergamot Body Wash ($30.00 for 10 oz. from Molton Brown, Nordstrom and Barneys New York): This is a beautifully refreshing citrusy body wash that cleans perfectly while leaving skin moisturized, and never stripped. It is emollient and hydrating enough that it works beautifully for shaving as well. Would I use it again? Without question– I absolutely LOVE this body wash!
Davines MOMO Moisturizing Anti-Aging Day Cream ($22.50 for 75 ml. from Davines and Barneys New York): This Anti-aging cream is deeply moisturizing, nourishing and detangling. Furthermore, it was created to, "restore softness and shine to dry, dehydrated, fuzzy, porous hair." It also effectively fights frizz and leaves hair manageable. Would I use it again? Yes, without question! This is my 4th tube!
T'ZIKAL Beauty Shine Rich Dry Oil Mist ($32.00 for 2 oz. from T'ZIKAL and Space NK): This is a lightweight, ultra-luxe dry oil mist that is a sumptuous blend of numerous nourishing oils. The blend of hibiscus and coconut helps to build a glossy shine, it fights frizz and it effectively smooths fly-aways. Furthermore, the combination of oils chosen for this wonderful hair oil do an enviable job nourishing and hydrating hair. The most detectable note, in this aromatic dry oil, is lavender, but its edges are tempered by the other oils– making it a warmer and creamier variant. If you love to use luxury hair oils, then this one is an absolute must-have! Would I use it again? Unquestionably!
The Organic Pharmacy Rose Plus Brightening Complex ($198.00 for 1.1 oz. from Barneys New York, Dermstore and): The Organic Rose Plus Marine Brightening Complex is one of my favorite products from the brand, and this is my third or fourth bottle, so far! It is an antioxidant-rich anti-aging serum that deeply hydrates, brightens and nourishes he skin, and it gives skin unprecedented luminosity. Would I use it again? YES, and I already opened a new bottle because it really is that great!
The Organic Pharmacy Antioxidant Face Firming Serum ($160.00 for 1.1 oz. from Barneys New York, Nordstrom and Anthropologie): This beautiful oil has the intoxicating scent of Sweet Orange- therefore upon application you are assured of a magnificent and visceral sensory experience. This brilliant concoction boasts a high concentration of the powerful Alpha Lipoic Acid, a known powerful antioxidant, that helps to prevent cell damage by scavenging free-radicals. The high concentration of Rose Hip Oil is rich in transretinoic acid and essential fatty acids, and is clinically proven to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, and also helps to reduce scarring over time. Sweet Orange helps prevent capillary fragility, and Carrots are rich in Beta Carotene (part of the Vitamin A family), and are rich antioxidants that protects the skin against free-radicals. Lemon (Citrus Limonum) lifts, tones and exfoliates the skin, and does so in an immediately visible way. This is also to say nothing of the fact that my skin is left soft, supple, and deeply moisturized and hydrated.
This combination of ingredients, along with those that I didn't enumerate, create a powerful cocktail that has visibly changed the texture and clarity of my skin. There is a notable lifting effect in that my expression lines are radically softened, and my skin has an unprecedented radiance and clarity. I would describe this oil as one that stimulates circulation because my skin has the type of radiance that is not superficial, but one instead that causes my skin to have a rosy radiance as though lit from within. The difference is so noticeable, that whenever I use it people comment on how gorgeous, glowing and beautiful my skin is. Would I use it again? Yes, this is neither my first, nor my last bottle. I will replace it soon! A+

I do too, and they smell AMAZING!
DeleteThanks for some great recommendations. I'm going to check them all out.
ReplyDeleteYou are very welcome, Kathy! These are definitely tried and true products for me!
DeleteOMG, Helen, how awful about the welts! You really had a siege. Did you ever determine what caused that reaction? The Molton Brown body wash scent sounds wonderful. I need to go to a store where I can sniff them all. I used up Ylang Ylang that I liked a lot a couple of months ago, but I'd like to try a different scent next time.
ReplyDeleteIt was HORRIBLE, Allison. Under siege indeed. I have not identified which of the products caused the problem, and I am frankly afraid to test to figure it out. I definitely highly recommend sniffing this Molton Brown body wash– it was such a treat to use. I definitely plan to get a full size bottle once I use up a few others that are currently in rotation.
DeleteThat Molten Brown body wash sounds delish!
ReplyDeleteIt really is! I definitely plan to buy a full size bottle!

ReplyDeleteIt is AMAZING!!!!!! I absolutely love the scent!
DeleteI hope you’re feeling better! I too had some allergy that left my legs and arm itchy and bumpy but I know the culprit, it’s from dust from the ceiling from a nearby office that I went to so all weekend I was treating it with anti-itch and lots and lots of moisturizer to help with the itch
ReplyDeleteI feel much better, thanks! Isn't it the worst?! Sometimes all of the product testing that we do has negative effects! I am sorry that you had a bad reaction as well!
DeleteAnother great empties post! These always leave me wanting to shop.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Bailey! Empties posts have the same effect on me as well!
DeleteGreat set of empties. I do love me some Molton Brown, like everything they do.
