I don't often use powder foundations, since I tend to prefer light to medium coverage liquid foundations, but I have to say that I am very impressed by Jane Iredale Amazing Base Loose Mineral Powder Foundation SPF 20 in Natural. It is ultra-lightweight, with a very finely milled texture, and it looks like skin without appearing heavy, cakey or as though you are wearing anything at all. It gives my skin light to medium coverage with a light luminous finish, so that my skin shows through, and it creates that highly coveted my-skin-but-better appearance. Natural, which is the shade that I have, is such a good match for me that it literally disappears on my skin– as you can see in the swatch below. I can use it as a stand-alone foundation, or as a setting powder, and it neither drying, nor is it uncomfortable for my normal/combination skin.
Jane Iredale Amazing Base Loose Mineral Powder Foundation SPF 20 in Natural provides the skin with Broad Spectrum physical, mineral protection with an SPF 20, and a UVA P++ protection that is water-resistant for about 40 minutes.
According to Jane Iredale,

I use to use Bare Minerals loose powder foundation for many years until I found that my skin got so dry that the powder accentuated my lines. But I am impressed at how good the match is for your skin tone!
ReplyDeleteI found Bare Mineral quite drying on my skin as well, and I have normal/combination skin. It felt as though I was applying chalk to my skin. I think that some formulas are better for very oily skin. I have had none of these problems with Jane Iredale's powder foundation!
DeleteI had to give up on mineral foundation some years ago as they don't work for my skin, anymore but I do like them as a setting powder on those days when I need extra coverage. This one would suit nicely, I think.
ReplyDeleteI definitely think that they tend to be less-than-ideal for dry skin. I have normal/combination skin, and definitely tend to prefer this is a setting powder. Though I do like it as a foundation too, but I am more of a light coverage liquid foundation kinda girl!
DeleteThis powder is a fantastic! I can only use it over a liquid (it doesn’t cover my redness unfortunately!) but I enjoy it. I also like Jane Iredale’s powder sunscreen!
ReplyDeleteIt really is, and I prefer to use it that way as well. I don't have the Jane Iredale powder sunscreen, but have heard great things about it!
DeleteI'm never confident with my application of a loose mineral foundation. I know how to do it and did it often when I worked at Ulta but I rarely do it on myself.
ReplyDeleteI find that a big fluffy brush works quite well. I like a light touch and minimal coverage, but I finding that gradually building coverage with a fluffy brush gives a lovely natural finish!
DeleteI'm the same, I prefer liquid over powder. Good to know though about this brand
ReplyDeleteMe too! I like a light, natural finish. I love this as a setting powder too!
DeleteJane Iredale is such an underrated brand, I've loved everything I've tried from them.
ReplyDeleteIt REALLY is, and I totally agree with you Cindy! It really is a superb brand! High quality luxury products across the board!
DeleteSounds like a nice setting powder. I am a bit wary of powder given that my skin is dry, but a good setting powder like this one looks great.
ReplyDeleteI completely understand. I really don't think that powder foundations are the best choice for dry skin, but a touch used as a finishing powder can really complete a look so beautifully!
DeleteI like using powder foundations in the summer, because my skin can get suuuuper oily. I will try to get a sample of this!
ReplyDeletePowder foundations for oily skin in the summer is absolute perfection! It is definitely worth trying to get a sample– the quality is superb, and it is so lightweight and finely milled!
DeleteThis powder sounds wonderful and I'm glad it's such a good match! it looks like it has fairly decent coverage as well.
ReplyDeleteI really is a wonderful powder. I was quite surprised that it was such a good color match! It has good light to medium coverage, and it is buildable.
DeleteI have been a long time favorite of JI and I love seeing how she is continuing to grow her brand. Definitely something I'd check out for sure.
ReplyDeleteI am a huge fan of her products as well! The really makes such high quality makeup, with superb textures and beautiful colors! I have yet to try something from her brand that I don't love!
