Given that I have naturally curly hair, that leans on the dry side, it is imperative to find non-stripping, ultra-nourishing and deeply hydrating haircare products to soothe and manage it. For years one of my most coveted go-to haircare brands in SHU UEMURA Art of Hair, but their Urban Moisture Hydro-Nourishing range is nothing short of miraculous for my sometimes unruly and unmanageable tresses. If you have dry hair, then this is unquestionably a collection worthy of your serious consideration. Furthermore, given that summer is right around the corner, and its heat can most assuredly wreak havoc on the hair by causing damage and drying– this range is a game changer for anyone whose hair gets overexposed to the elements. Pollution, sun exposure and daily environmental aggressors can be left brittle and lackluster, and Urban Mature is an effective choice to mitigate those unwanted byproducts associated with outdoor fun in the sun.
According to SHU UEMURA Art of Hair,
With Moringa, Red Micro-Algae and Cationic and Amphoteric Polymers, hair receives key nutrients, anti-oxidants and rich vitamins, minerals and amino acids – leaving hair feeling lightweight, yet moisturized and nourished, bringing it back to life.
SHU UEMURA Art of Hair Urban Moisture Hydro-Nourishung Deep Treatment Masque ($68.00 for 6 oz. from SHU UEMURA): This creamy, rich, nourishing and ultra-luxe deep conditioning mask is an especially effective treatment for dry and stressed tresses. While SHU UEMURA recommends leaving it on for 5-10 minutes, which is highly effective, I prefer to leave it on for 20-30 minutes for even greater efficacy. Not only does it deeply moisturize my hair, but it also softens it, smooths it, fights frizz and fly-aways, and leaves it remarkable shiny. Furthermore, if you have curly hair, you will be astounded by the extent to which facilitates gorgeous natural curl formations. While fragrance is listed among the ingredients, I wouldn't describe it as a particularly fragranced mask, there is no lingering aroma that I can detect.

Shu Uemura is one of those fab brands that doesn't get enough mentions, so I was happy to read your review of these Urban Moisture products. They would be perfect for my hair that tends to be on the dry side especially in summer!
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with your assessment of SHU UEMURA, Allison! I don't know why it doesn't get enough mentions, but they definitely deserve high price. Yes, I think that the Urban Moisture range would be perfect for your dry hair– especially with the amount of time that you will be outside this summer!
DeleteResponding to Allison, the reason we don't hear much about Shu anymore is because they've pulled their products from the stores that carried them. I spent a lot of money at Nordstrom on their cosmetics and once it was gone found I didn't order much. The hair products seem beautifully rich though I think they are more fragranced than I can use.
ReplyDeleteBarneys New York actually stocks SHU UEMURA Art of Hair! I wish that they were more widely available, though. Their haircare products are amazing, and these two aren't very fragranced.
DeleteI've been using the Colour Lustre range and really like it but the moisturizing serum might be something I try next, it sounds great!
ReplyDeleteTheir Color Lustre range is incredible, and I definitely think that this serum is something that you would really like as well, Bailey.
DeleteI was wondering if you still recommend the SHU UEMURA mask from your review? I want to try it and would love your opinion years later!
ReplyDeleteHi Jessica,
DeleteThank you so much for reaching out! I still absolutely LOVE SHU UEMURA Art of Hair products, and their hair masks are among my favorite products. This one is quite effective for my hair, which is naturally curly and it tends to be a bit dry. Years later, I still have a nice collection of their haircare products, and I thoroughly enjoy using them. Have a beautiful weekend! Let me know what you think of their mask, if you decide to try it. :-)
