Kevyn Aucoin The Eye Pencil Primatif in Basic Black and Basic Brown | Review and Swatches

Since I was a teenager, I have always had a basic black and basic brown eyeliner pencil in my possession, and these are true staples for me because I wear them all of the time. In fact, sometimes that is all that I wear other than sunscreen and lip gloss. I have always sought a formula that is creamy enough to apply without tugging, that deposits color effortlessly and evenly–without skipping– and that neither transfers onto my eye lid, nor smudges everywhere. Kevyn Aucoin The Eye Pencil Primatif in Basic Black and Basic Brown do all of this, and they are waterline safe. Furthermore, there is a nice smudging sponge included if you want to blend for a softer look. These eye pencils are staples that deserve pride of place in your makeup collection– they certainly have achieved it in mine.
According to Kevyn Aucoin,

Line and define eyes with silky, dramatic shades and minimal effort. Define with rich shades for wide, gorgeous eyes. The Eye Pencil Primatif is formulated with silkening nylon-12 and botanically-derived waxes for soft, easy to apply shades. At one end, you'll find a velvety, sharp tip for lining the eyelid, lower lid or waterline. At the other end, you'll find a slightly tapered smudging tip for creating a sexy, smoky look. Snag- and skip-free, The Eye Pencil Primatif is the perfect tool for creating awe-worthy eyes.

  1. Is this the same product that was in the bonus bags at least twice?

    2. I must still have them as I haven't used them. Perfect size for travel which is always a consideration for me. Heck...I think half the reason I love GWP so much is that I obtain travel sizes of products. I hate decanting!

    1. Yes, this is a fantastic brown, and I am thrilled that it doesn't have an underlying red hue that can be so unforgiving on the eyes!

  9. I don't really need any new liners (not that that will stop me from a few more...), but these do look pretty impressive.

  11. The brown is really nice. I have so many liners, that I wouldn't add these to my collection. I used to buy a lot of expensive ones and found my highend ones just sit, I have a hard time using them. But tehse are really nice and like that they are ready to smudge.

    1. I agree, and since it isn't a red-brown it doesn't make eyes look tired!
