The necessity to wear sunscreen is not something that I take lightly, and as I have said before, I don't ever leave the house without wearing a minimum of an SPF 30 on all exposed areas of skin. I admit that my least favorite part is reapplication every couple of hours, but the latest sunscreen on my radar is so easy to use, and to reapply, that there are no viable excuses that warrant skipping reapplication.
In fact, Brush on Block Mineral Sunscreen is so easy and pleasant to use that I never forget to reapply it– which is the only effective way to remain protected.Brush on Block is a loose mineral powder sunscreen that is housed in a sleek black tube with a cartridge containing the powder on the bottom and a brush through which the powder is dispensed on top. One simply turns it upside down and the powder travels to the brush, and it only dispenses a small amount of sunscreen at a time so that there is never a wasteful mess. Simply sweep the soft synthetic bristles across the skin, and it deposits powder evenly in a thin translucent veil without color (though in the tube it appears to be a light beige or ivory shade).
While it can be used on the face and the body, given the size of the brush I find it easier to apply to my face rather than the larger expanses of skin on my body, but it is definitely formulated to be used everywhere that one would apply sunscreen.
One might think that a mineral powder sunscreen would look and feel drying on the skin, but instead the nourishing antioxidant-rich ingredients leave my skin feeling comfortable, soothed and lightly moisturized.
Brush on Block can be applied under or over makeup, and it neither emphasizes pores, nor does it settle into fine lines. I actually find that it doubles as a lovely setting powder when applied on top of my foundation, tinted moisturizer or BB and CC Creams.
According to Brush On Block,
Brush on Block is a mineral sunscreen for the whole family, in powder form. The self-dispensing brush is mess-free and easy to take with you, holding a cartridge of SPF 30 powder inside—a couple of shakes and you’re ready to apply. When you run out, just refill the brush.
Naturally occurring minerals like titanium dioxide and zinc oxide protect skin. And botanicals like chamomile and green tea extracts enrich, soothe, and replenish it. Because there’s no tint, you can wear it under makeup or over.

Does it have a color to it? I had a Peter Thomas Roth sunscreen powder before but it had a tint to it. This was not a good look for my fair skin.
ReplyDeleteIt looks slightly beige in the tube and on the brush, but it applies completely translucent. It really imparts no color to my skin at all. :-)
DeleteMine is in the makeup bag I bring to the beach. I use it all the time and love it!
ReplyDeleteThat's the perfect place for it! I love this stuff!
DeleteI love products like these for clients. If we are outside for a long time I can swipe this on them and keep sunblock on their skin without adding color. They are protected and still look fab!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea to use products like this on your clients! This is perfect for that application!
DeleteBrush on sunscreen terrifies me. I think I worry that I wouldn't get an even application.
ReplyDeleteI actually haven't had that problem, but I do fins that the size is better suited for the face rather than larger expanses of skin on the body.
DeleteI have this and I love it. It lives in my handbag for hitting those little spots and touching up the protection on my face. I love that I can disconnect the cartridge and clean the brush. This is such a good product.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it amazing, Erika?! I really need to put mine in my handbag as well. I agree that it is a great feature that one can remove the cartridge to clean the brush! It is such a well thought out and executed product!
DeleteI'm very careful to apply sunscreen everyday too, especially living in South Florida. I love the idea of a brush on block - it seems so easy, and as long as it really works, you can't beat the convenience!
ReplyDeleteYou are wise to be so diligent about applying sunscreen– especially given the definite necessity in South Florida! It is easy to use, and it's definitely a very effective product that is so easy to reapply!
DeleteI'm going to check this out! I've been looking for a powder sunscreen that I can use for sunscreen touchups over my makeup.
ReplyDeleteHi Brianna, It is DEFINITELY worth trying out! It's perfect for reapplication over makeup!
DeleteI think this is a great idea. You don't ruin your other makeup and it helps with SPF and shine. My blog partner Lisa would go nuts for this since she needs a matte powder during the day and this would serve two purposes.
ReplyDeleteIt really is a great idea, Marcia. It does precisely what you describe, and it is so easy to use. I think that Lisa would really like this!
DeleteI see good things about this and wouldn't mind giving it a try.
ReplyDeleteIt definitely seems to have become a favorite sunscreen for so many people who have tried it. I definitely think that it is well worth trying.
DeleteThis is great for touch-ups. I never leave home w/o sunscreen too!
ReplyDeleteIt is perfect for touchups, Kath! You are wise not to leave the house without sunscreen– especially since you get so much sun in Hawaii!
DeleteThis is such a great idea! I am bad at re-applying, but this would make it so much easier (for face, anyhow.)
ReplyDeleteIt really is a great idea! You certainly aren't alone in being bad about reapplications! I could afford to get a while lot better about reapplying every two hours!
DeleteI have enjoyed this product over the years... I noticed they changed the packaging or maybe just different from what it once was... but definitely still a favorite of mine.
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy to hear that you have been using this for such a long time. I only recently became aware of it– so you are lucky to have known about it for so long. I never saw the earlier packaging, but I hope that you will enjoy this packaging as well!
DeleteThis is genius! I would love to try this out on my face, normal sunscreens always break me out.
ReplyDeleteIt really is genius, Kristina! If normal sunscreens tend to cause you to break out, then you might really want to give this one a try!
DeleteI've heard about this forever but never tried it. I'll definitely have to!
ReplyDeleteOh, you really should consider giving it a try– it's a really nice and very reliable sunscreen, and it's so easy for reapplications!
