Milo, The Overlord of Higher Learning

Milo, who is Lola's blood brother, has become the mortal enemy of Oliver. They are both vying for the title of Alpha-Male, and this ongoing battle often results in Milo seeking refuge in high places. In order to accommodate his penchant for perching high, I have been forced to displace many of my books.

I have so many books that I could start a small library, and finding additional places to store them is a daunting task. Not only is this collection of books an occupational hazard, but I was bequeathed my father's considerable collection after he passed away. My dad, who was a lifelong college professor, had so many books that I continue to store many of them in boxes since I don't know where else to put them. Therefore, giving up book storage to accommodate Milo's request was done because his needs outweighed mine. My at-home study room has slowly been overtaken by my feline family members, and I am lucky to claim a postage stamp size spot on my father's desk to do my work. However, while this may sound like a complaint, it is not. I am grateful to these glorious creatures with whom I share space, and in whom I find great love and companionship.

    1. I knew that you would understand first hand! It's like they are systematically taking over bits and pieces of the house little by little, and I'm sure that I will wake up one morning to find that they have completely seized control! LOL! Happy New Year, Sunny!

  3. Awwww he's so handsome on his high perch! I too have so many places I can no longer put things. I'm lucky they let me sleep in my own bed! Ahem, they allow me to "share" their own lovely human sized double bed with feathertop mattress. But I wouldn't change them for all the world. I'm glad all our cats don't know each other. Humanity wouldn't stand a chance! Hahaha

    1. LOL– I just laughed so hard that I snorted! Our bed has been overtaken by the felines and canines– so we have to squeeze in and then they take up the bulk of the space! You are so right! We are both already outnumbered, can you image if they joined forces?! Happy New Year! xoxo

    1. Hello lipstick soul sister!!!!! WOW, the similarities between us are really getting super crazy! My dad was a college professor for more than 40 years, and did it almost until the end of his life. I'm so sorry to learn that your dad passed away as well :(.

Now it gets even more strange because I have a Ph.D. in Art History, and in my "day job" I'm a college professor (who is obsessed with Tom Ford lipsticks :). How interesting that we have this in common as well!

I must say it's also very impressive that you manage to keep up such a fab blog whilst having a demanding 'day job' ! Ps can't get to the TF matte review for some reason.

    3. I am sorry to hear your dad has passed away too...my dad passed in 2011 from cancer & it had such an unimaginably big knock on effect on other aspects of my life that you realize that nothing in life can be taken for granted. Best to enjoy everything whilst you can....that's my justification mantra every time I splash out on yet another TF lipstick! :)

    5. Thank you for your condolences about my dad! My deepest sympathies to you as well. I know just what you mean about how big a knock it is. My dad died in 2006, and also from cancer. It was ugly and fast, and frankly I still haven't fully come to terms with the finality of this incalculable loss. You are so right it definitely has a way of putting things into sharp perspective, and really forces you to not take life, or the people you love, for granted. The small indulgences like our beloved TF Lipsticks are definitely a nice way to sow down and appreciate the little things in life! <3

    6. i don't think it's something we can really come to terms with :( time heals all things definitely does not apply in this case. i lost my dad 11 years ago (also cancer) and still woke up crying hysterically because i dreamed about him on new years day. the void will always be there; just the edges get a little less ragged.

    7. I completely agree with you, Chia-Yi! It's just one of those horrible wounds that never really heals– you just sort of get used to living with the pain. I'm sorry that you also know of this horrible pain. Cancer is such a wretched killer. My heart hurts for you, and know precisely what you mean. I have dreams of my dad and for a minute, while sleeping, feel that he's still alive. Then when I awaken I feel gutted by the loss and the realization that he really is gone. You are so right about that void, and though the edges do become a little less ragged the pain remains. :(

    1. Good point! Most of the books that I read, and use for work, are not available in electronic versions :-(

I adore Oliver, but he is definitely being a huge bully with Milo and Lola these days. In fact, I had to pull him off of Milo (in the worst cat fight I have seen between them) and I ended up bitten in three places and in the emergency room. My arm was so swollen that I was pretty freaked out. Even now, three weeks later, my arm has some sensitivity at the location of the notes! Jasper is absolutely divine no question!

    2. O.O guess you just can't trust a pretty face :( i hope your arm makes a full recover soon!
