evanhealy Rose Geranium Face Tonic HydroSoul Review

Press Sample (Unaffiliated Links)

The more that I investigate the wonders of evanhealy skincare-- the more impressed that I become. This lovely line is filled with healthy organic ingredients and the products boast extraordinary efficacy. Furthermore, evanhealy products offer such a lovely tactile and sensory experience that leave one with a profound sense of well-being.

evanhealy Rose Geranium Face Tonic HydroSoul is a refreshing revelation that leaves skin delightfully soft and hydrated when used alone, but when paired with evalhealy face oils it is an even more amazing performer of miracles in its ability to aid in their rapid absorption.

According to evanhealy,

Our Rose Geranium Facial Tonic Hydrosol is sourced from a few small, organic farms in northern Washington state. Our geranium is called "Attar of Rose" and is a finely cut Pelagonium capitatum, it is sweetly floral and with an ideal, slightly acidic pH 4.6, it is ideal for gentle, hydrating and vitalizing care of the skin. It is distilled solely for its hydrophilic (water-loving) components, not the essential oil. Distillers of essential oils usually use plant material that has been dried over several days, resulting in a loss of approximately 70% of water volume. We choose to distill for the hydrosol alone and use only fresh plant material. In this way the resulting hydrosol is much richer in the valuable, water-soluble aromatic molecules. Furthermore, these hydrosols are artisan-distilled at low temperatures for over two to three hours in copper. Conventional distillation utilizes stainless steel and high temperatures, and the process lasts for only thirty to forty-five minutes. The more labor-intensive artisan process that we choose to use creates a hydrosol that is vitalizing and healing for all skin conditions.

Pure plant hydrosols are some of nature's best antioxidants. They play an important role in protecting the skin from free radicals and pollution. Saturating the skin daily with these precious waters restores pH balance, refreshes and tones skin tissue, maintaining soft and smooth skin while significantly increasing vitality and hydration to all skin conditions.
I find myself spritzing this lovely tonic on my face throughout the day for a delightful pick-me-up, and the scent and experiential quality is always mood elevating. Aside from how it makes one feel it also must be hailed for its ability to hydrate the skin and promote cell repair.

Attributes:
  • For all skin conditions especially dry/oily combination and teen
  • Features a soft and delicate rosy-leaf fragrance
  • Gentle and slightly astringent, restoring balance to teen and/or combination skin
  • Relaxes facial muscles, promotes cell repair, maintains soft and smooth skin and significantly increases hydration
For maximum hydration, evanhealy suggests that one should "saturate skin with Facial Tonic Hydrosoul (3 to 5 full sprays). With clean hands, press completely into skin. To help restore the protective hydro-lipid balance of the skin, follow Facial Tonic with two pumps of one of our silky oil Serums: Rosehip Treatment or Pomegranate Repair. For added protection, add a finger-full of one of our Day Moisturizers or Whipped Shea Butters over our oil Serum. Facial Tonic Hydrosols can be used liberally all day long to tone, hydrate, and refresh."

For those with dealing with Acne, evenhealy offers this tremendously helpful tip: "A daily saturation of any of our Facial Tonic Hydrosouls helps to restore the skin's slightly acidic pH, its Acid Mantle, an integral part of the body's defense mechanism that helps to repel bacterial growth on the surface of the skin. Adding to this restorative action, the benefits of an abundance of bioactive aroma molecules of plant's immune system, and you have a healthy, peaceful face!"

evanhealy Rose Geranium Face Tonic HydroSoul is "Artisan-distilled in copper using low temperature methods; sourced from small certified organic farms."

Contains: No alcohol. No preservatives. No artificial fragrances. No GMOs, petroleum-based products, parabens. evanhealy is Cruelty free.
Overall Assessment: You owe it to yourself to try evanhealy products because they are truly extraordinary, and they are remarkably affordable! evanhealy Rose Geranium Face Tonic HydroSoul is  such a lovely tonic, and you only need to try it once to know that it is an absolute must-have!

    1. Hi Sunny! Oh, you need to try this line, and your penchant for face oils make this line a great fit for you as well! The HydroSouls are delicious, and they work so beautifully in conjunction with your favorite beauty oils! I hope that you try the line because I suspect that you would love it as much as I do! :-)

  3. I bought the rose sample kit at pharmaca for ~$30 after reading you face oil posts. While I love the face oil I'm still on the fence on the hydrosol. This might be because the cleanser has the same amazing scent but it is stronger- seriously felt transported to a swanky skin spa the first time I used it. I'm also new to clay containing cleansers, so that's another reason why it stuck out more than the hydrosol. I'm still finishing off my tatcha face mist whose scent I prefer and I think the misting mechanism might be better on the tatcha than on my sample evanhealy bottle. Probably because my skin is dry/dehydrated the hydrosol/oil combo isn't enough for me. Right now I'm just using the oil in my night time skin care regime with divine and glory results. For those interested, the mask is a very fine milled- soft and almost creamy- crazy red clay. Bottom line is I think I'll try the other evanhealy hydrosols to see if there is one whose scent I prefer. Next Sat the 11th my pharmaca is having a $10 off $50 or $20 off $100 event. They also carry Avene and Kneipp so I know I'll be going home with lovely face and body products. Thanks to Lola for uncovering this amazing face oil and skin care line!

    1. Hi Kirsten! Oh, I love the Rose Sample Kit! I love taking it with me when I travel! I'm so happy to hear that you love the face oil-- I love it so much too! I wonder if the Geranium in the HydroSoul is what is off-putting to you? I would definitely try out the others when you go to Pharmaca for their event next Saturday-- that's the perfect time to buy some lovely evanhealy, Avene and Kneipp products without breaking the bank! I love that TATCHA face mist as well, and the packaging is, no doubt, far more luxe! I love TATCHA!!

I love that clay mask that comes in the Rose Sample Kit as well-- it definitely has the most amazingly finely milled texture-- I was shocked when I first felt it because it is so different from other clay masks! Thanks for announcing the Pharmaca event of on the 11th-- hopefully lots of people take advantage of the amazing deal!

Absolutely my pleasure-- I'm so happy that you love evanhealy products as well-- they are really amazing! You should take a look at W3LL PEOPLE makeup when you go to Pharmaca-- they have some amazing products! :-)

    2. Hi again, Kirsten :-) I forgot to mention that I used to grow Rose Geranium and the scent is quite pungent and powerful-- so I wonder if it's just too much for you?

  4. The rose hydrosol scent just might not be my thing in its most concentrated form. I do like their hydrosol concept and I'm still finishing my sample bottle- we'll see what I think then! Like a lot of people I can be particularly attracted to or offended by scents in skin and body care products. Sometimes I can tolerate a "smelly" shampoo (for me this is wella brilliance for color) and sometimes I cannot (clear scalp and hair, v. sad as it is so cheap). Anyone else out there try neutrogena retinol and find it smells like they put a whole shampoo bottle's worth of fragrance in it? Again, thanks for finding all these cool products for us, Lola. I'm not sure which Kneipp products I'll get yet, but I'm definitely buying some of the new avene dry skin line featured in Allure best of beauty. I actually liked the lotion better than the cream balm when sampling. I have dry/dehydrated skin and usually must resort to oil based body cleansers in winter- think Eucerin or L'occitane (love their almond line!).

    1. Hi Kirsten, That would certainly explain why you remain on the fence about it! Overpowering scents or a sensitivity to particular scents can definitely be a problem-- particularly in the case that the scent lingers and lingers. I have that experience with smelly chemical-heavy scents in haircare products as well-- especially when my hair is down and the smell is constantly literally in my face.

I have not tried the Neutrogena retinol, but I wonder why it is so heavily fragranced? Is it for the face or the body?

It definitely sounds as though you are going to get some truly lovely things at Pharmaca!!! Keep me posted-- I can't wait to hear what you end up getting! I will have to go play with all of the Avene products next time that I go to Pharmaca! Oh, the L'Occitane Almond line is scrumptious! :-)

    2. I purchased the neutrogena retinol as a two pack at costco- I'm fairly certain it is their standard retinol treatment. I bought it for use on my body, which is probably the only reason I was able to finish it. Now I am using paulas choice retinol body treatment. I've been using prescription retin a on my face for years- right now use 0.05% cream. Makes it easier to manage my skin when I have one product that helps with both acne and aging- I don't have to spend much time looking for the best most potent antiager that will keep my skin young because I already have it! When people who know I'm knowledgable about skin care ask me what to use for aging, I tell them sunscreen, vitamin A (ideally prescription), antioxidants and exfoliants- in that order of priority.

    3. It makes perfect sense that you were able to finish it up since you were using it on your body. I have to say that I am becoming less and less tolerant of unappealing or unpleasant scents in products-- even if the products themselves are very effective. It's not a chemical or scent sensitivity that makes me unable to use them, but more an issue of just not wanting to smell things that I find unpleasant. The worst offenders are usually highly perfumed and synthetic smelling hair products for me!

I have 0.05% prescription Retin A, and I find it far more potent and effective than the over-the-counter versions. Nice list of products to use for aging-- sunscreen is definitely at the top of my list as well! :-)

  5. One more post and I swear I'm done! This summer when I restarted retin-a I added aloe to my regimen. I read a news article covering a dermatologic study indicating combining the two increases results, though they couldn't say if it was because of increased retin-a usage due to less irritation or if there is some sort of synergistic effect. Obviously, you need to use the purest aloe you can find- i.e. health food store stuff not the body sunburn gel stuff. I think I have Avalon Organics. I was floored by how much better my skin tolerated the retin-a compared to my past usage. Now that there are so many natural, organic skincare lines out there you can just use a moisturizer instead that has aloe as a base or as a top 4 ingredient. This way you don't have to add yet another product to your regimen. BTW, I discovered the aloe heavy organic pharmacy products thanks to you!

  6. So I lied, this is really my last post. The aloe recommendation suggested multiple ways of usage depending on you retin-a tolerance. You can use it in the AM to soothe, in the PM you can layer under retin-a for more protection, or over retin-a if things are going well. I don't use it much in the AM as I am lazy. In the summer the retin-a cream/ liquid aloe combo was super softening and hydrating and I didn't need much else. We'll see how things go in the winter- I've been using face oils and moisturizers more so far.
