Lola from Lola's Secret Beauty Blog | An In-Depth Interview

While my beloved beauty-loving readers continually express their enjoyment of product reviews and event coverage-- I would be remiss if I didn't tell you that I receive lots and lots of emails requesting more feline posts. Recently there have been many requests to see more of Lola, the feline after whom this blog was named, and how could I deny such a request! Therefore, with Lola's permission I asked her a few questions to give her a chance to express herself.

Helen: How would you describe your feelings about having a beauty blog named in your honor?

Lola: Well, I think it's pretty nice, but I don't understand why it often features my mortal enemy and tormentor. Zeus consistently displays aberrant behavior, and let me tell you he's even weirder when you  leave the house. I have two words for you, Nanny Cam!

Helen: I get that he's crazy, but you kind of have to try and tolerate him because we rescued him from the streets of LA where he would have surely met a very sad fate. What is your favorite aspect of having a beauty blog?

Lola: That's an easy question, the best part is sleeping in your lap when you write.

Helen: That's definitely very meaningful to me as well. I love that you purr until you fall asleep, and you melt my heart every single time that you gaze lovingly into my eyes.

Lola: It's definitely my favorite time of the day. I also love sprawling out across our desk, and I love that you placed it right under the double windows so that I can sleep in the window when there is a nice breeze. It's especially nice when the Jasmine is in bloom-- that was definitely a nice touch. I was wondering if you could put water in the fountain under the window because it attracts all of the neighborhood butterflies and birds, and they are so fun to watch!

Helen: These things give me great pleasure as well! I didn't realize that you missed that fountain being connected-- I will have to remedy this situation! It would definitely be a nice addition to the study room. Is there anything else that you would like for me to do?

Lola: That's all that I can think of right now, but I wanted to thank you for putting that high perch above the door, and it is fantastic that you put the condo beneath it so that it is easy to get to. It was also really nice that you cleared all of your books off of all of the high shelves of the bookcases. It's about time that you understood that they are cat perches-- not a place to store piles of books.

Helen: Happy to oblige, but you do realize that you and your feline cohorts are slowly but surely crowding me out of my workspace. Would you prefer that I work exclusively from campus instead?

Lola: No, I definitely prefer it when you work from home-- I'm sure that we can work something out!

Helen: Glad to hear it!

Lola: Well, I am sleepy and want to take a nap now, but if you or anyone has any other questions I will happily answer them after my snack and nap!

Helen: Sleep tight, sweet little Lola!

Lola: purrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Lola then blinked her eyes and promptly fell asleep.

  1. Hi Lola, I was just wondering if you have a thing for Tom Ford makeup brushes, or is there a certain beauty item you think is the cats meow? Also, please tell the nice lady you let live there that i love her blog!

    1. Well, I can tell you that I have no need for makeup brushes personally, and think that my fur is much nicer, but I will tell you that my human mom has a very big passion for Tom Ford brushes. In fact she owns all but a few of them! They are handmade in Japan by Hakuhodo, and I have caught my human mom petting them and gazing lovingly at them. For some reason she hasn't reviewed them yet, but I'm sure she will in time. They are lovely indulgences, and I'm sure she would tell you that she uses them more than most of her other brushes. You can see this post that she did featuring crazy Zeus trying to get at her Tom Ford brushes, but she definitely thwarted his attempts to steal them! I just told her that you love her blog, and she said that you just made her whole day and to purr for you to convey our appreciation!

Other than loving just about Tom Ford everything, she has a crazy love for high quality skincare products and is just passionate in her love of Luxury Beauty Oils!

Another makeup line that really makes her super happy is Hourglass, and she has recently also found great love for the products made by W3LL PEOPLE. She is pretty obsessed with great quality skincare and makeup! We both hope to see you around here much more! =^..^=

  2. Empress Lola, as a new reader, I feel so fortunate to have found the blog in time for this interview you so graciously allowed. I do firmly believe that your generous nature will be rewarded by that fountain being set to play again!

As for a question, I have a rather tacky one... I wonder if you or your hu-mom know of any especially nice Neiman SAs. Last week I had to call in to The Event ( internet issues, so annoying) and spent over $500; I didn't get so much as a thank you note, let alone a sample beyond what was already offered with the various purchases. This was a store in Texas, which made it all the more shocking.

Perhaps I am just getting old and grouchy; feel free to say so!

    Adoring at your feet,
    Tamar

    1. Welcome, Tamar! I, Empress Lola, and my human mom are thrilled to have you among our friends! I purr in response to your kindness! I suspect that you are right about the fountain-- I saw them cleaning it-- which can only mean that soon I will hear the welcome trickle of water as I slumber in the window.

While I am, but a feline and not terribly experienced in the ways of these retail events that you humans seem so fond of, but it doesn't seem old or grouchy to have been a bit disappointed. Michelle Weinstein from The Beverly Hills Neiman Marcus, who also happens to be the Tom Ford Counter Manager, is phenomenal. Tell her we sent you and she will take great care of you! She is kind and so lovely, and she can always get you anything that you need from any of the counters in the department. My human mom absolutely adores her and always shops through her-- she will never try to sell you something that you don't need, and you will absolutely adore her! Her number is (310) 550-5900 x2517 =^..^=

    2. Thank you! I appreciate your help so much.

And I should clarify that I didn't expect a thank-you note per se, but just a hello, please-let-me-know-if-I-can-assist-you-further type of acknowledgement, you know?

      Thank you again!
      Tamar

    3. Hi Tamar, I hear you and agree! There is a certain expectation-- especially when you spend that much money-- that you will be acknowledged and appreciated. There are many many sales associated out there to work with, and if you don't feel good about the way you were treated then they lose your business-- plain and simple. Plus one can shop online and avoid them altogether-- so it's important that they make consumers want to be repeat customers with them specifically! Absolutely my pleasure-- you will love Michelle she's such a lovely and genuine person. Have a lovely weekend! :-)

  4. She wants it all! Lola is a very lovely tyrant, like all adorable cats to which we serve in a deliriously masochistic way are. She is glorious! That beauty mark on her nose? So pretty. I can imagine how happy she may be resting on your lap and I can imaging as well, how transfixed you are when this happens!

    1. And she'll get it all!! She is not as demanding as some felines that I know, and live with, but she does ket her desires be known! Isn't her beauty mark funny?! Her blood brother, Milo, is the ultimate example of symmetrical Siamese perfection, and yet Lola in all of her asymmetry is such a lovely looking cat with a sweet disposition. I'm constantly transfixed by her loving gazes-- she really seems to enjoy engaging is a deeply penetrating reciprocal gaze! It's very soulful and touching! Of course there are times when her lap naps are quite long and make me feel like I'm being held captive, but her happiness and deep grumbling purr is all the reward that I need! =^..^=
