TATCHA PETAL FRESH Original Aburatorigami Blotting Papers | REVIEW

 Press Sample (Affiliate Links)

If you are a fan of facial blotting papers then if you have not already tried TATCHA'S Original Aburatorigami Blotting Papers-- you really should put them on your list of things to try. The quality of these elegant blotting papers is astounding, and using them is nothing short of luxurious. These gorgeous gold leaf-laden Abaca Leaf works of art are more absorbent than any of the blotting papers that I have tried before. I have a fairly active t-zone, and when I do have the need to blot down the shine these papers remove all traces of oil and debris, and the effects last for many many hours. What's interesting is that these papers lift all of the excess oil without depleting the moisture level of my skin. Furthermore, my makeup stays put since they magically remove only what needs to be removed-- leaving everything else undisturbed. I have liked the other blotting papers that I have used in the past, but I actually love these. If you use blotting papers, then be forewarned that these are a true game changer in my estimation!

According to TATCHA their PETAL FRESH Original Aburatorigami Blotting Papers are,

All-natural leaflet blotting sheets which absorb excess oil without disturbing makeup for petal fresh skin anytime, anywhere. Will not steal moisture from the skin or disturb makeup. Powder-free. Fragrance-free. Pulp-free. For all skin types.

Centuries ago, gold leaf craftsmen created blotting sheets of abaca leaf to protect their precious metal as they hammered it into whisper-thin sheets. Resourceful geisha learned that the soft, absorbent leaflets were perfect blotting papers, incorporating them into their beauty rituals. These original beauty papers are made from 100% abaca leaf and gold flakes to blot away excess oil without stealing moisture from the skin, leaving you with petal-fresh skin any time. Ideal for dry skin, combination skin and oily skin.
Biodegradable and handmade in Japan, Aburatorigami Beauty Papers are 100 percent natural and cruelty-free. They are free of powder, fragrance, and pulp.
Ingredients: Abaca Leaf: Absorbent but gentle on skin. Gold Flakes: Mark of authenticity from gold leaf artisans.
Overall assessment: Unsurprisingly, best in class! In purse, will travel.

$12.00 for a single pack of 30 sheets (Size 3.74" x 3.74"). Available from TATCHA, Barneys New York, Sephora, Beauty.comB-Glowing, Spirit Beauty Lounge, Bliss US, Skin Store & eskinstore (Affiliate Links).

  1. I stopped using blotting papers once menopause set in and my skin morphed from oily to dry. At that time, the only papers with which I was familiar were those super oil absorbing ones marketed primarily towards teenagers and, needless to say, those no longer suited me. In fact, they actually stripped my skin and emphasized emerging areas of dryness. I never thought to use blotting papers again until I was in a friend's wedding party. She had hired a makeup artist to do our makeup and the MA used Tatcha's Aburatorigami papers to set our makeup. She explained that they removed the excess carrier oils that were in cosmetics without removing the pigment and that would help our makeup last longer. As she finished each one of us, we were given a tube of the lipstick we were wearing and a packet of the blotting papers in case we needed a "photo op" touch up :-) I was pleasantly surprised with how well these performed; even on my dry skin. This isn't the type of product I need on a daily basis, but for those occasions when I want my makeup to look fresh for hours on end, I'll carry Tatcha's blotting papers in my purse.

    1. What a wonderful way to make such a fantastic discovery, Eileen! Ah yes, I remember those early blotting papers that were super oils absorbing, and marketed to teenagers! These certainly are a whole different world, and I agree that they don't remove any makeup.

Did the lipstick that you were given end up being a favorite as well?

    2. Yes, it did :-). The lipstick was a semi-sheer coral shade called Brenda. It was part of Guerlain's now discontinued Rouge G Brilliant collection. It was a favorite throughout that spring and summer. By the end of the season, I was all but scraping it out of the tube! LOL

    1. Thank you so much for your very kind words, Em. I'm very touched to learn that my reviews have been helpful to you, and if I have in any way helped your skincare routine go from "blah to fantastic" then I am very happy! You are very welcome, but doing this hardly seems like work to me-- I love skincare products and makeup, and I love indulging in talking about it and writing about it for people who are likewise obsessed with these things. It's so nice that we can learn so much from each other in virtual spaces such as this blog! You are also so kind for for saying that I am thorough, sincere and kind-- I couldn't hope for more. As to the luck of my students for having me as their professor--- thank you very much for saying that!

  6. Well, isn't this just a ridiculoulsy gorgeous, luxurious product? It almost makes me wish I needed blotting papers. Perhaps they'll come out with a magical paper that will tamp down rogue dry patches without smearing or diluting makeup? I'd be game for that! :-D
