As I have previously noted in other posts, Maximus is to cats what the Clydesdale is to horses. He is a colossal cat with a calm disposition, and an engaging and affectionate character that makes him hard to resist. He is so loving and sweet that I continually count myself exceedingly lucky to have the great pleasure of living with this special creature.
This particular perch has become one of his very favorite places to nap, and this hand carved pair of river stone lions seem to enjoy his company as much as he does theirs.
From this vantage point, Maximus is able to survey the comings and goings of the neighborhood because his perch is situated near a big window in the front of the house. He spends countless hours lounging here, and no doubt protecting the family from errant birds and bugs that fly too close to the window.
As you can see the heavy-lidded Maximus is growing sleepy, and as soon as I left the room he drifted off into a sweet slumber.

I love and look forward to any of your posts, especially about your cats! How about one a week??
ReplyDeleteHow is Zeus, by the way? Those photos of Maximus are wonderful, especially between the two stone "sculptures." Thanks for that!
Shelley
Hi Shelley!
DeleteI'm so glad that you love and look forward to my posts, and am thrilled that you love my kitty posts so much! Once a week it is-- I will start giving you a weekly dose of my kooky feline family members! Zeus is doing very well, just as crazy and lovable as ever!
I never planned to leave those stone lions up there-- there were on the floor and I was moving them, but once Maximus found them up there it became his perfect perch! Now I can't move them! :-) Helen
Aww so many KITTEHS! Maximus is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteHi Sunny! He's a really sweet boy! He definitely makes my heart go pitter-patter! :-)
DeleteMaximus the Majestic! Accident or no, this is clearly a throne most befitting his stately self. :)
ReplyDeleteHe definitely is a majestic kitty! Definitely a throne befitting such a lovely boy! I'm so glad that you like this post! :)
DeleteOh my god, those are AWESOME shots :-D If only Maximus knew how totally kick ass he looks posing there all king-like between his lion servants :-D
ReplyDeleteHi Melissa! I'm so glad that you liked these pictures so much! I was very lucky that I was able to get the shots at all-- he's so affectionate that when I walked into the room he started talking to me, and as soon as I snapped the photos he wanted me to give him love! :-D You are so right-- if only he knew how kick ass he looked posing with his two lion servants! He's the most spectacular loving cat! <3
DeleteWhere did my comment go! Oh well, as I was saying: What a gorgeous creature you have there Helen and he looks stunning perched there ready to tackle all spirits. Those two river stone statues are amazing! They surely enhance Maximus royal and sleepy face. He is huge! You almost have a full size tiger there, lucky you.
ReplyDeleteSending you many hugs from lovely (and poluted!!!) Santiago. It will be at least another month before I have to return to the humid apple of the world.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Sorry that you lost your first comment! I hope that you have recovered from that bug that you had! I'm so glad that you have another month in Santiago (sorry to hear it's polluted!) before getting back to NYC and then on to your post-doc!! You need the time to unwind before this next chapter begins.
DeleteI'm glad that you like the two river stone lions-- I fell in love with them the moment that I saw them! Maximus really loves sleeping between these two lions, and he smiles while he slumbers there-- it's just so sweet! Sending you lots of love! xoxox
awwww! shhh, don't tell the other cats but max is my favorite!
ReplyDeleteHe's pretty hard not to fall for! I certainly have!! <3
