We are in the midst of dangerously hot weather here in Los Angeles, and in this type of weather one finds little comfort outside of well air conditioned spaces. However, I love to keep hydrating sprays on hand to keep skin balanced, refreshed and lusciously hydrated. Alaffia's line of Everyday Coconut products includes a delightful Coconut Water Face Toner that does wonders for the skin any time of the year, but during the heat it really quenches the skin and refreshes the spirits. Lately I have been storing it in the refrigerator and then spritzing the fine mist all over my face, neck and décolleté-- and it not only feels great, but it also makes skin look gorgeously glowing. The scent is a pleasant combination of coconut and lavender, but it does fade rather quickly. If you love using a toner, or if you need a refreshing hydrating product to spritz yourself with during the hot weather-- then this Coconut Water Face Toner is definitely worth considering. If this heat-spell lasts much longer I may need to replace this bottle much sooner than anticipated!

EveryDay Coconut is an extension of Alaffia Sustainable Skin Care and EveryDay Shea. Alaffia was founded by Olowo-n’djo Tchala, a Togolese native, as a way to generate funds to conduct community enhancement projects in his home country and other West African nations in order to reduce poverty and gender inequality. Olowo-n’djo believes that Africans can mobilize their natural resources in a sustainable manner to empower their own communities, and that this is a more sustainable avenue towards reducing poverty than waiting for outside aid or for corrupt governments to fall. Alaffia and the Alaffia Coconut Cooperative were founded in order to trade the indigenous resource – Coconut Oil – in the West to raise proceeds which are then returned to Togo in the form of community projects.
EveryDay Coconut is a continuation of this philosophy. EveryDay Coconut is a value line product that is price-sensitive during this economically difficult time. It provides a way for health-conscious families in the West to afford clean, petroleum-free body care, while at the same time keeping the Alaffia cooperative members employed in Togo.
Alaffia Fair Trade & Community empowerment:
While poverty and gender inequality issues seem overwhelming on the African continent, we believe through fair trade of our indigenous African resources and knowledge, our communities can rise from poverty and become self-sufficient without relying on outside aid. We pay fair wages to members of our certified fair trade coconut cooperative in Klouvi-Donnou, Togo, and we use the funds from this and our other Alaffia products to conduct our long-term community empowerment projects.
Overall assessment: So refreshing and hydrating-- what's not to love?!

i wonder: how well do you think this would work as a setting spray for powder foundation? i love to use jane iredale powder foundation because of the natural mineral (as opposed to chemical) sunscreen. but i do find they need a setting spray.
ReplyDeletethoughts?
Hi Erin! What a great idea-- I hadn't even thought to use it in this way! I actually think that it would probably work. The mist is so fine that it would be hard to overdo it-- especially if you hold it at a good distance from your face! I think that it is worth a try. This is so refreshing and hydrating-- I absolutely love this stuff!
DeleteHmmm...interesting and impressive. This is my first time to hear about coconut water as toner. This only proves that coconut really has many uses. I will check on this.
ReplyDeleteIt's a very nice refreshing toner. I agree, coconut has so many uses!
