Benefit Hydra-Smooth Lip Color in Nice 'N Teasy: Review & Swatches

I have to confess that I did something rather unlike me, and it really does amount to an impulse purchase. My sister pulled one of the Benefit Hydra-Smooth Lip Color lipsticks out of her makeup bag and I thought that the fluted column lipstick bullet was so cute and whimsical that I bought one without really thinking about it or researching the product. I really tend to mull things over a bit longer than that, but the whimsy of the packaging was so adorable that I just couldn't help myself. 

I chose Nice 'N Teasy, a rosy neutral, because it is an easy to wear (as the name suggests) neutral MLBB type of shade.

 According to Benefit:

Nice 'N Teasy is an infinitely wearable beautiful rosy neutral that looks good with everything. While Benefit ranks it among their medium coverage shades, I do find that it is buildable.

While Benefit suggests that the formula is hydrating, I didn't find that it imparted much in the way of moisture. However, neither did I find it in the least bit drying. It does glide on the lips with great ease, and it does feel nice and creamy in texture. Nice 'N Teasy does contain shimmer particles that remain on the lips after the lipstick has worn away-- they are perceptible in feel, but not gritty in texture.

Benefit formulated the Hydra-Smooth Lip Colors in three levels of coverage: Sheer, Medium and Medium Full.

Sheer Coverage: Lip Service (pink-peach), Air Kiss (bubblegum) & Tutti-Cutie (coral)

Medium Coverage: Nice ‘N Teasy (rosy neutral), Frisky Business (shimmering nude), Juicy Details (natural pink)& Talk Flirty (orchid pink)

Medium Full Coverage: Fling Thing (very berry), Dare Me (true fuchsia) & Wing Woman (peachy neutral)

Overall assessment: A nice neutral everyday shade, indeed. While the colors offered aren't particularly unique they are lovely and quite serviceable. The range offers easy to wear colors, and the packaging is so much fun! They are definitely worth taking a look at next time you are near a Benefit counter.
