Clearly the Chanel Lip Pencil, the MAC Eye Kohl and the Covergirl Liquiline Eye Pencil have been heartily used since the inception of this project. Likewise, the Chanel Rouge Coco Shine and Glossimer have been used enough to show great signs of wear. I am also pleased that the Chanel Joues Contraste is really beginning to look well-worn-- though I must confess that this is bittersweet since it is one of my all-time favorite blushes and the stunning US version was long ago discontinued by Chanel. What is far less impressive is my progress on the two MAC eye shadows, Carbon and Patina, since I don't seem to be reaching for either often enough. The Rouge Bunny Rouge Tinted Moisturizer has also been a bit neglected over the last few months-- the opaque packaging conceals the dirty secret that their has been little change in the amount of product since November.

I find this project a great idea. Specially because in order to get new items it's necessary to use up other products. I can say that I haven't advanced much in this, I haven't use much of my products, shame on me. From now on I'll try to check the evolution of my makeup usage more often^^. CU!
ReplyDeleteHi Hue Rocks. It really helps me to realize that I have so many neglected things that I need to at least try to use periodically. I don't force myself to use only these products, but to use them with greater frequency by keeping them together in a very visible place that encourages their use. It feels really good seeing them shrink in size!!!!!!!!
Deleteerr... sadly the project fell somewhat to the wayside as i tested an influx of new makeup acquired during the sephora VIB sale/holiday season. what i have done tho is every couple of weeks, i switch out all the palettes on my countertop for ones stored away in drawers and i commit to using at least 2 different shadows from the singles draw once a week. i guess my color ADD is too severe for me to commit to just a couple of items. i don't get the sense of accomplishment from seeing these diminish but i feel like i'm still in keeping with the spirit of the project.
ReplyDeleteHi Chia-Yi, I totally understand-- that often happens to me as well. I don't make myself use these products exclusively-- because I have so many shiny new things that I love playing with. Instead, I store these products together in a little box that is easily accessed and always in view where I apply my makeup-- so that I am encouraged to use something from this pile of stuff when I apply my makeup. Sometimes I don't use any of it, but other times I use a few pieces. At the beginning of the series there were even a couple of times that I used everything. The point for me is to have it close at hand and to use it as often as I can, but not at the exclusion of my pretty new things that I really want to use. I love your idea-- I think that is definitely in keeping with the spirit of the project. That is a great way of knowing that your money was well spent on those products when you pull them out and use them- rather than only reaching for the shiny new things that definitely tend to capture our attention more forcefully!
DeleteI love the idea for this series! I too have a lot of neglected but awesome products that I need to bring out!
ReplyDeleteHi Miranda, I'm so glad that you like the idea for this series! It's a great way to incorporate neglected products into your much reached for favorites. I am not doing as well as I had hoped-- given that the tinted moisturizer and two eye shadows have been pretty neglected, but I am managing to make a dent in the rest of the stuff! I store all of these products together in a little box that is highly visible and conveniently located-- so whenever I do my makeup it is starting at me as a reminder to at least grab something from the box to use.
DeleteI've been trying to use up my mark loose perfecting powder, shu uemura eye primer, Etherealle Bakery blush, Hex Potions cheek tint, and am zeroing in on two eyeshadows: a gold one and a bluish-grey I use for smokey eyes.
ReplyDeleteHi Iris, What a great list to be working on! You do so well with finishing makeup in your monthly empties that I have no doubt whatsoever that you will finish up this complete list! Wishing you a very Happy New Year! :D
DeleteWooo!!! Great job!!! Hey, any dent is a good dent :-) I'm hoping to make a dent in my lippie stash...I don't have a ton, so hopefully it won't be too bad. Main thing is I'm trying not to buy a new lip color unless it's a color I don't already have in my collection. I'm trying to find the perfect red, so that's one color family I foresee getting a few of until I find the right one! Oh, and a vamp to replace train bleu. But that should be it I think!! Hopefully!! ha ha :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Gummy! I agree, any dent is a good dent. That said, I could have made more effort with some of the products than I did! You are so smart for curbing your lippie purchases. It is far too easy to buy endless variations on the same colors-- I am trying hard to be smarter with these purchases! Searching for the perfect red sounds like a wonderful quest. A vampy shade to replace train bleu sounds like a good quest as well. I'm trying hard not to get sucked into all of the new collections because I really don't need a thing. The only thing that I am really considering right now are the new sheer lipsticks from the TF Spring Color Collection. We'll see how well I do in terms of resisting every color that looks good with my skin tone! LOL!!!!!
