By Request: A Plea to Find a Dupe for Le Métier de Beauté Tamarack from a College Student on a Budget!

Both purchased by me.
When I received an email plea from a loyal reader compelling me to find her a budget friendly dupe for the Le Métier de Beauté Dualistic Eye Pencil in Tamarack (reviewed here), I went digging through my stash. In no time at all I found my MAC Eye Kohl in Teddy, and thought that the two might prove to be remarkably close in hue.
Tamarack is a gorgeous shimmery bronzy brown and Teddy is described by MAC as "an intense bronze." I would describe both as bronzy browns that are complex and stunning.

While I find Tamarack to be a slightly more complex shade, and a touch less red than Teddy- I would say that the colors are close enough. Teddy is a touch more creamy, and is more prone to some migration or creasing than Tamarack- therefore if you are using it as a base color (or have oily lids) you will benefit from the use of a primer. There is quite a disparity in the price points- with the former sporting the hefty price tag of $36.00 for 0.04 oz. and the latter weighing in at $16.00 for 0.48 oz. There will undoubtedly be proponents on both sides who will happily choose one over the other- whether out of brand loyalty, economics, or simply a preference for one over the other.

    I'm surprised how close the colors are, I never realized that. But I think the LMdB makes a better base if used in the Colours de Couche method because of the drier texture.

      I was too! I completely agree with your assessment- LMdB definitely works much better in that regard. I'm personally partial to it all the way around!

    Teddy is an HG for me, I love it so much! LMdB definitely has better wear time. I also think Neutrogena Spiced Chocolate Nourishing Eye Liner might be close as well. I'll have to pick up Tamarack and compare the three because now I'm curious!

      I know just what you mean, Brooke. I have used Teddy for a very long time. I agree with you and Marcia that the wear time is definitely better with LMdB- no question! I haven't ever noticed Neutrogena Spiced Chocolate Nourishing Eye Liner-- I will have to check it out next time I go to Rite Aid or CVS!! Have a lovely weekend! :D
