While perusing the makeup aisle at Walgreens, I thought I would take a look to see if they by chance may have had any of the Limited Edition Maybelline Color Tattoo 24hr Eyeshadows that launched in the Fall 2012, and much to my surprise I found Gold Shimmer unopened (!) and shoved in the back of the display. They were also having their buy one get one half-off specials so I also picked up Bad to the Bronze (part of their permanent range of colors).
Bad to the Bronze is really more of a taupe shade than a bronze shade. Gold Shimmer is akin to a dirty antiqued gold. Both shades are gorgeous and super shimmery. Neither shadow is what I would describe as a glitter bomb, nonetheless those of you who prefer shimmer that is very subtle will likely find these a bit outside of your normal shimmer comfort zone, and may want to pass.
Left to Right: Bad to the Bronze lightly applied, and then heavily applied. Gold Shimmer lightly applied, and then heavily applied.
I found that both applied effortlessly, and neither were in the least bit patchy. Once applied they stay put all day long. Now I haven't, nor would I, test Maybelline's theory that these shadows will last crease- free for 24 hours, but they definitely haven't migrated while I wore them.
Overall assessment: Nice shadows, but you have to like the high shimmer finish.
.14 oz. for about $6.00-$7.00 each. Available at most drugstores.
Very nice colours ! :D
ReplyDeleteThey definitely are, ABI! :D
DeleteHey Bad to the Bronze is right up my alley!
ReplyDeleteIt's a really gorgeous shade!! I think that you would really like it!
DeleteThese are pretty! If I had seen them around, I probably wouldn't have been able to resist buying them (even though I have most of the permanent shades and never use them :P). But alas, I have not seen these or the mahogany and Barely Beige ones that I had wanted :/
ReplyDeleteHi Becca! Bad to the Bronze is part of their permanent range-- so you should be able to find it easily. I think that it was a fluke that I found Gold Shimmer since it was from the Fall LE collection. Mahogany was the one that I really wanted more than any of the colors-- it would have made a spectacular liner! :/ <3
Deletei have mahogany and it IS nice as a liner! it took me like... 6 drugstore visits to find that one and barely beige lol. i think if i was home and not in CA, i would've never found it bc i would've given up lol. i do think bad to the bronze is a nice shade too, but like becca, i hardly use mine!
DeleteLucky girl, Joyce- I went looking everywhere for Mahogany in LA and never found it! :/
DeleteI love using the Maybelline Color Tattoo's as a base for my eyeshadow. Come check out my FOTD post where I used Barely Beige (A MUST HAVE SHADE) as a base for my eye look.

They do make great bases! They really should make Barely Beige part of their permanent line! Thanks for stopping by!
