According to Burberry, "Get a bright and radiant finish with warm glowing skin, reminiscent of the freshness of a spring morning. A lightweight blush that gives the skin a bright fresh glow
Burberry Light Glow contains silicones for effortless and even application and wild rose extract for moisturising benefits. The complexion glows with natural looking radiance."
Formula: This airy micro-powder ensures rich shades. Silicones provide an easy glide.
Benefits: An effortlessly natural fresh complexion and a healthy glow.
Protection: Provides moisturizing benefits.
How to use: Apply Burberry Light Glow on the hollow of your cheek to slim face, or apply it at the top of the cheek to highlight the face.
Expressing my feelings about these blushes will quickly turn from a rational description, to effusive gushing, and finally to incoherent babble- because I'm suffering from a special kind of Burberry inebriation. I know that many of you suffer from the same affliction- so you undoubtedly understand what I speak of!
The texture is soft, smooth, silky, and utterly sublime. This is one of the most refined and finely milled powder blushes to have ever graced my cheeks. While the colors are quite tame, understated and reserved- they are quite buildable. Once applied, they last all day long on my cheeks, but your mileage may vary. I can find no fault with this formula.
What serves as a deal-breaker for some- does not for me, but do be advised that like Burberry lip products the blushes are also quite heavily fragranced (a strong floral). I find that the scent dissipates upon application, or very soon thereafter. That said, if you are amongst the many who either cannot tolerate fragrance in your makeup, or simply abhor the idea of placing fragranced products on your face- then you should avoid these blushes. Do note, however, that I have never detected any fragrance in Burberry eyeshadows.
Misty (No. 08) is a cool-leaning light baby pink. It most closely resembles Peony, but Misty is definitely the lighter of the two shades. Misty will work best on people with fairer skin, and may in fact appear somewhat ashy on those with darker skin. It is ideal for those with cooler skin tones, but that's not to say that it won't look lovely on those with warmer pale skin as well.
Cameo (No. 02) is a mid-tone dusty rose shade. This color has a chameleon-like color shifting quality depending on whether you have warmer or cooler toned skin. People with fairer skin might find the pigmentation a bit too rich and the hue too dark, but blended down and applied with a light hand should render beautiful results.
Peony (No. 04) is a gorgeous blue-based pink that is brighter, darker and more vibrant than Misty. It is a very clear pink that translates beautifully onto the skin. This is one of those perfect pinks that creates a lovely flushed appearance that is natural looking, and simply stunning.
I sandwiched Cameo and Peony between Misty in order for you to see each of the colors together, and to demonstrate the differences between Misty and Peony. All three are classic shades that aren't what one would call unusual, bold, or particularly unique in hue. They are timeless rather than trendy, and therefore make the hefty price tag more palatable because they won't go out of style. The colors are gorgeous, the quality is exceptional, and everything from the packaging to the contents is luxe. None of the shades are glittery pearl filled blushes, but instead they create the impression of a natural glow from within (as the name aptly suggests). While I'm not in the least bit bothered by the fragrance, I would have preferred for the blushes to be fragrance-free. In my estimation, it simply isn't at all necessary to add fragrance to makeup products because there are far too many people with sensitivities and allergies who are excluded from the enjoyment of those products.
Ingredients:Overall assessment: Obsession worthy blushes. The formula is so finely milled, and undoubtedly one of the highest quality luxury powder blushes on the market. Pure unmitigated love.
0.24 oz $42.00 each. They are housed in a hefty metallic check case, and include a soft angled blush brush. Made in Italy. Available where Burberry Beauty is sold. I purchased mine from Nordstrom.
So lovely! These are some of my very favorite blush formulas on the market. I also own Cameo and I love how understated, but rich it is. Nice picks you have there!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Bellyhead! I am not surprised that you have Cameo- it really is a divine color! This post illustrates perfectly what we were talking about yesterday- being weak in the face of these beautiful temptations!
DeleteThe Spring promo pictures are also pulling a number on me. THOSE BLUSHES!
DeleteYou and me both!! I'm frothing at the mouth, and about to call my Burberry SA to put stuff aside for me the moment he gets them! No impulse control, whatsoever! I know you have fallen way down the TF brush rabbit hole, but have you also done so with his blushes? If so do you like them as much as those made by Burberry?
DeleteI have Ravish & Narcissist. Narcissist was a recent purchase. Burberry feels denser and creamier (if that makes sense). TF is crazy pigmented, feels lighter and does delicate shimmer really well. It looks like one of the Spring Burberry looks like Narcissist. :-) I love TF & Burb are some of my favorite blushes!
DeleteI suspected as much! I was hoping that you would say TF is overhyped and not to bother in order to squelch my growing desire to try his blushes!!! :-) Thanks for your wonderful assessment!
DeleteNeed these! I only have Earthy so far.
ReplyDeleteThey are so divine!!! I really want Earthy as well! I also really want one or both from the upcoming Spring Collection. Just so filled with Burberry wants! :-)
DeleteAs always, excellent picks Helen :) My wants from the Spring 2013 collection are exactly the same as yours. I'm such a sucker for pinks & lip glosses!
ReplyDeleteP.S. I have only one TF blush in Frantic Pink & agree with Bellyhead's description between the two brands. Both are lovely to use.
xo Naomi
Thanks, sweetie! We definitely have the same taste in makeup with our deep and abiding love of pinks and lip glosses!!!!!!! And wouldn't you know it, Frantic Pink is the one blush that caught my eye! I must try and resist, at least until after I have determined what I will actually end up buying from the Burberry launch. xoxox, Helen
DeleteThese are gorgeous. I was looking forward to seeing Burberry in person and buying blush... thanks for the warning on the fragrance since I can't tolerate the Burberry fragrance.
ReplyDeleteThey are gorgeous! I actually was just talking to my favorite Burberry Counter Manager, MUA about the issue of fragrance in the blushes and lip products yesterday and told hime that so many people are unable to enjoy these outstanding products because of this-- and he said that he encouraged people to ask for samples to take home so that they could try the products without having to purchase them. He said that he does this routinely and that quite often they end up coming back to buy them. I think that the lipsticks and lip glosses might be too much for you, but I think that you might want to try a sample of the blushes-- I suspect that they might still work for you- they aren't quite as perfumey as the lip products and the scent fades quickly. You might want to air it out as you did the Chanel Narcisse, but if you can get a little sample to try at home you might find that it could work for you.
DeleteThese are are stunning! I can barely afford 1, but you've made me want them all.
ReplyDeleteHi Krystle! They really are gorgeous, and the quality is truly outstanding! I wish that they were less expensive-- because I would have purchased even more!!!! :-)
DeleteI'm glad you have found a new addiction ;) I think I like the look of Misty the best xx
ReplyDelete...and another expensive one at that!! Misty is fantastic-- and soooo perfect for your cool pale skin!!! <3
DeleteHappy New Year !!
ReplyDeleteI've been wanting these forever but due to my AMAZING self control ;) I have not bought them yet. Ooh... guess what ? I'm going to Tokyo soon and..... the first place I'm going to hit is : http://en.hakuho-do.co.jp/user_data/stores_aoyama.php Finally I can touch them before I buy :)
Happy New Year Adelle! I hope that you have been doing well!! You do have amazing self-control!! OMG- I am so excited for you that you are going to Tokyo soon-- you lucky lucky girl-- plus being able to go to the Hakuhodo flagship store!! I would lose my mind!! I can't wait to see pictures!!! :)
DeleteAhh--gorgeous gorgeous Burberry! This is what I LOVE to see!! :D So glad you are liking them so much! I REALLY need to get my hands on more! I'm thinking Blossom and Earthy are next for me!
ReplyDeleteAlso always so interesting to see how different blushes turn on different skin tones. Cameo leans more nudey-rose on you while on me, it turns quite a light mauve! I kinda wish it looked on me the way it does on you but either way I love it so much--such a great, wearable shade! :D
Hi love! Burberry products are just ridiculously gorgeous-- you are in large part responsible for my insane love for this line-- it all started with your effusive gushing over the Lip Mists!! Earthy is definitely on my list-- at least I want to go and swatch it again and see how well the color works on my face. Blossom is GORGEOUS, but I think that it is a touch too warm and coral for me-- though I will definitely look at it again. I also want to look at Rose. However, I'm really dying to see the two new Spring Collection blushes!!
DeleteYou are so right about how these colors morph on different skin tones. I actually wish Cameo turned into a light mauve the way that it does on you! Your swatches were AMAZING!!!! Like you said, either way I love it so much, and it is such a wearable shade! :D
Cameo and Peony look and sound absolutely gorgeous. I've finally found my true blush love in Nars Orgasm but my gosh, you make these sound delectable... And an early spring pink flush is just so appealing.
ReplyDeleteHi Liesl- they really are gorgeous!!! You are so lucky that you can wear NARS Orgasm-- it leans too warm for my skin, but it is so beautiful! I agree that an early spring pink flush is so appealing!!!!!!!!! Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteI came back to this post at least about dozen times. Between Peony and Misty, Misty is more appealing to me but I am afraid it's too similar to Giorgio Armani 12. Maybe Peony is a better option. So confused! Lol
ReplyDeleteHi Rachel! I don't have Armani 12, but when looking at online swatches it seems as though Misty might be a touch cooler, and maybe even a touch darker. My sense is that you should go with your gut instinct. Peony is definitely brighter and more vibrant than Misty, but they are both stunning and very wearable colors. You really can't go wrong with either!
DeleteAwww. Thanks for looking it up. Yes, I agree. :) Both are beautiful pinks but peony seems more versatile as it can be worn as vibrant as it looks in the pan but also sheered out, I presume. Thank you so much for your help!
DeleteMy pleasure!! I think that you should trust your instinct and get Peony. Yes, Peony can definitely be sheered out or built up to be quite vibrant! I seriously doubt that you will regret it. Then later if you decide that you have to have Misty you can pick it up. Honestly I reach for them equally, and I have even mixed them-- you just can't go wrong! I can't wait to see which you choose, and then to read your review!! Have a lovely weekend! <3
DeleteThanks for the swatches, they’re lovely!
ReplyDeletexo,
~Pauline @Kallony
My pleasure! I'm glad that you like them :-)
