I decided that the most appropriate way to describe my shopping adventures during events the likes of the Sephora V.I.B. sale or the Barneys Bag Event is to call them Lolapalooza-- since for me it really is a happy type of festival, and I arguably hear music when roused by these events. So with that said, here are the things that I brought home from my most recent Lolapalooza!
I had a few gift cards with decent balances on them to mitigate the damage that I did- so I came out relatively unscathed. I really didn't need anything, but I really wanted to get a bottle of the Caudalie Divine Oil that I ostensibly bathe myself in every single time I walk into Sephora. I figured that it was time to just break down and get a bottle of this deliciously luxurious oil, and I am so happy that I did. For some reason I walked out of there with more haircare products than I had intended, but I am ever on the lookout things that work well for my finicky naturally curly hair. I had been meaning to swing by Chaz Dean's Salon on Fountain Avenue in Hollywood for the last few years, but I always manage to forget to go despite the fact that it easily accessible. Therefore, when I saw WEN at Sephora I finally grabbed a bottle of the Sweet Almond Mint Cleansing Conditioner. Ouidad products have been on my list to try for a while, but when one of the Sephora sales associates gushed over my whacked-out spiral locks-literally as I was leaving the store- he said that he had a pile of samples that he wanted me to try. He was so sweet, and the products felt so good that I grabbed one of the sets and headed back to the growing line at the register. Cha-Ching!
I had just about run out of my beloved FutureDerm Time-Release Retinol 0.5% (review forthcoming), and needed something quickly so I decided to try Glow by Dr. Brandt since I have heard favorable things about it, and I wanted to try a 2% concentration of retinol. All I can say is just you wait to see the gorgeous color of this Guerlain KissKiss Gloss-- yes, I hear you-- I need another lip gloss like I need a a hole in the head, but please-- this was too gorgeous to pass up. You know I'm a magpie at heart and need to bring these pretty shiny things back to my nest to fawn over them.
I also have wanted a few of the Hourglass lipsticks for a while, but settled on a single gorgeous shade. Now does that show self restraint, or what? I was clutching a handful of them in one hand while the other arm was a ridiculously swatched up mess-- so coming out with a single shade was a feat of self-control that cannot be sufficiently underscored!
That sums up the extent to which I engaged in the reverie of my Lolapalooza. Did you partake or refrain?
i got a mini of the caudalie oil. I haven't tried guerlain glosses (i don't think) but i love their lipsticks and bronzers! I really want to try more hourglass! Anyway, great purchases! :)
ReplyDeleteGood for you on the Divine Oil-- isn't it amazing?! I love the Guelain glosses and the Hourglass lipsticks-- such lovely products!
DeleteNice haul! I didn't buy anything this year.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Connie! What a good girl you were. Truth be told, if I hadn't had the gift cards I probably wouldn't have gotten anything other than the Caudalie Divine Oil-- I am glad I have the gift cards!
DeleteI also got Wen Cleansing Conditioner from the VIB event, it is my go-to hair product now. My hubby likes it too. I am happy to re-discover it after using it years ago, it is fantastic.
ReplyDeleteHi Rola! This is the first time that I have tried Wen products, and I LOVE this-- I can see why you used to use it, and why you repurchased it!!! You are right- it is fantastic!
DeletePartook! You did more damage than I did though. But I'd bought from Beauty.com the week before. My goodies are the Sephora+Pantone Universal Metallic Collection, a Bare Minerals e/s kit (similar shades), a Tarte concealer that I love enough to have a backup of and something I can't think of~~
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see your lippies.
You did a nice haul-- I can't wait to see everything you got! What damage did you do at Beauty.com?
DeleteThe two lippies are lovely. I'm waiting until my bug is completely gone before I touch them though!!
I partook with a whole bunch of the little checkout minis, and stocked up on urban decay liners, and brow powder. Not that exciting.
ReplyDeleteLove your haul! Especially the hourglass lip product. Also would you consider reviewing the overnight resurfacing serum? It sounds like something I need but guessing its pretty pricey!
Hi Krystle!
DeleteIt sounds as though you had a nice Sephora shopping excursion!
I'm glad that you like my purchases!! I'm especially excited about the Hourglass and Guerlain lippies!
Sure-- I will happily start using the Dr. Brandt Glow Resurfacing serum for you. I need to wait a little bit longer since my skin needs to adjust to my new beauty routine using vbeauté skincare exclusively. Once I see the effects clearly, I will begin using Dr. Brandt's retinol. I will announce it, and then use it for about a month so that I can give you a realistic and detailed assessment!! Hopefully it's fantastic, and worth the price! I think that it was about $85.00, but I bought it during the V.i.B. sale and used a gift certificate-- so it was actually felt as though it was free!
Happy Thanksgiving!
I partook, but barely. I bought a backup of my koh gen do cleansing water stuff and a nars lip gloss.
ReplyDeleteHi Rachel!! Well, you may not have gone nuts, but you certainly did pick a couple of my favorites!!! :D
