I can no more hide my love of Sponge products than I can my love of really good chocolate. Everything that I have tried from this line has been superb in quality, unsurpassed with respect to the tactile and sensory experience, and phenomenally effective. Indeed, Sponge is one of my very greatest skincare discoveries in decades. The other two products that I purchased, Gel Katharistiko Wild Herb Cleaner (reviewed here) and Ladi Avokanto (reviewed here) quickly soared to Holy Grail daily use status-- which means far more when you see the sheer size of my skincare stash. What's more, I was already perfectly satisfied with the products that I was using on a daily basis, and wasn't expecting to fall head over heals in love with another line! There is just something magical and enchanting about Sponge, and as a card carrying member of the Skincare Junkies Secret Society (we are a crazy sect that would gladly forgo makeup and clothes, and possibly even shelter before giving up our beloved skincare products) I do not make this claim casually. It actually takes a lot for me to really love a skincare product or line, but the more Sponge products that I try- the harder I fall for the line.
According to Sponge, this lovely body lotion is intended to cool, firm and hydrate. It was "created for the specific needs of the body, this refreshing milk contains peppermint to cool and invigorate with therapeutic st. john’s wort to perfect the texture and beauty of the skin. Antioxidant rich olive leaf and virgin olive oil help promote cellular renewal and a youthful glow."
Galaktoma Somatos has a lightweight texture that melts into the skin quickly, and it deeply hydrates and nourishes the skin. Skin is left smooth and silky, firm, ultra hydrated, and is left with a healthy radiant glow. It has a subtle pleasant aroma that wears away in less than an hour, and it leaves the skin feeling refreshed. This antioxidant rich formula is power packed with all sorts of natural ingredients, and it is free of parabens, propylene glycol, petrochemicals, and artificial dyes- to name a few.
Ingredients: Aqua, Olea Europaea Oil (Olive Oil), Glycerin, Stearic Acid, Glyceryl
Stearate, Hypericum Perforatum Extract (St. John’s Wort Extract),
Arginine, Dimethicone, Mentha Viridis Extract (Mint Extract), Olea
Europaea Leaf Extract (Olive Leaf Extract), Phenoxyethanol, Xanthan Gum,
Caprylyl Glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Carbomer, Tocopherol, Essential
Oil Parfume, Linalool, Amyl Cinnamal, Hydroxycitronallal, Lilial,
Benzyl Salicylate. Triethyl Citrate, BHA.
Overall assessment: This is one of the very best body lotions that I have ever tried. I'm over the moon about Sponge products, and this lotion has strengthened my resolve to try more of their gems.
$65.00 3.4 oz. from Sponge. Also Available at Barneys & Dermstore.
If this is almost as good as chocolate I sure wish I could get my hands on this product. Lovely post. When you get a chance I'd love it if you could check out my blog, I'm recently new to blogspot.

Hi Xaimarys! Thank you- I'm so glad that you enjoyed the post! It is a really lovely product- as are all of the products that I have tried from Sponge!!
DeleteI will definitely check our your blog! Have a lovely day-- thanks for stopping by! <3
Comparing this to chocolate got my attention quickly!!
ReplyDeleteLOL!! I was trying to think of something that I TRULY, MADLY & DEEPLY love to show how taken I am by this product (and everything from Sponge that I have tried)-- chocolate (which I would marry if I could) was the obvious choice!! ;-)
DeleteYour enthusiasm is infectious!! I can never be a card-carrying member of the skin care society but maybe you'll sneak me in and let me watch a meeting some time? ;D
ReplyDeleteI'm just a certified skincare junkie!! You have a lifetime all-access pass-- anytime you want to fall down that rabbit hole with me! ;)
DeleteI'm a Chocoholic! You got my attention too!
ReplyDeleteLOL!! I'm a chocoholic too!!! Sponge products are as good as good chocolate to me!!! :D
DeleteHow long lasting is the hydration? All day? 24hrs? Delectable review, as always! Ha ha :-)
ReplyDeleteFor me it seems to last all day, but my skin isn't dry. The trick will be if it still does once the weather is colder. So right now- it lasts all day-- fingers crossed that it continues to in the winter!! It's really lovely though!!
DeleteSpeaking of Sponge...have you received your order yet? Do you love what you got??
DeleteLovely products to tone your skin, love this collection.
ReplyDeleteI agree! I am madly in love with everything that I have tried from Sponge so far!! It really is such an amazing line! Have a lovely weekend, Tracy!
DeleteThis is a bit off topic, but I was wondering if you have any information about the upcoming Barneys beauty bag event yet? Thank you!
ReplyDeleteHi Nina!!! Not really off topic to me!! :-) Funny that you should ask-- I have been waiting to hear back. What I do know is that it will start on the 19th or 20th of this month, and I'm waiting for details on step-up gifts, and the bag content. The second I get the call I will post it! I'm already plotting out what I want-- I think my focus will be on Sponge this time around-- they give very generous gifts, and I am so smitten with the line. Is there anything in particular that you are interested in? If so, I will try to get as much info about it as possible!! :-) xx
DeleteThank you for the info! I'm thinking of getting some Tracie Martyn products. I know you are loving the Sponge line! Are you not using any Sunday Riley anymore? Please share with your readers that if they want the Barneys gift, they really need to call an actual store and speak with a cosmetics SA, as I had a disastrous experience when I tried to order online last time. The order seemed to go through and by the time they emailed me that everything I ordered was out of stock, the gift event was over and it was too late to call a store!
ReplyDeleteHi Nina, I have always been curious to try Tracie Martyn products, and am very curious about her Enzyme Exfoliant and Firming Serum. I will see what I can find out about her gift. I'm sooooo sorry to hear that you had a disastrous situation ordering from Barneys online during the bag event-- I would have been so bummed out! I will definitely make sure to let people know that it's a better idea to call a store-- so that doesn't happen to them. I suspect that ordering cosmetics online from them is fine-- provided that it's not during the bag event when so many people are scrambling to get one of their legendary gift bags!
DeleteI am nearly irrationally in love with the things that I have purchased from Sponge-- and actually think that I will pick up a few more things from them during the bag event. There's just something magical about the line. I still have piles of Sunday Riley products, and I still I use the line-- but I am skincare junkie and try out lots of different products all of the time. What happens generally is that over time I end up picking and choosing the things that I like best (and that work the best on my skin) from each line. I always have piles of products in my stash from lots of different lines-- many that I purchased and many that are sent to me for review. Even when I am madly in love with a particular product (like face oils) my eyes will wander to another one that catches my attention! I am just really curious about what different companies are doing with their lines, and so much new technology is being employed in the making of skincare products that I find myself wanting to learn more, and therefore try more. Plus blogging about my findings can help others wade through the piles and piles of products out there! I will report back to you just as soon as I hear back! Have a great weekend! xxoo
Hi Nina- I don't know if you saw my Barneys Bag Event post yet, but I asked about Tracie Martyn for you, and there is no step-up gift with the line, but any Tracie Martyn purchases will obviously qualify toward the gift bag ($200.00 minimum pre-tax purchase). :D
