There is something about Oatmeal soaps that I have always found immensely comforting.
I love the smell, the feeling of the bar in my hands, and the general
earthiness that a good bar possesses. There is just something so
wholesome and therapeutic about Oatmeal soap, and for me it produces a
sense of wellbeing. |
I have tried
many many Oatmeal soaps, from Trader Joe's (reviewed
here) to high-end handmade versions, and I must say that Shannon's Soaps
Honey-Oat with Goat's Milk Soap has quickly become my favorite. It is luxuriously creamy, it smells divine, and the ground oatmeal is very effective as a gentle exfoliant. The combination of the saponified oils (palm, coconut and canola), the goat's milk, and raw honey also make this an unbelievably non-stripping moisturizing soap. I keep it in my shower and use it daily-- it's that good!
Overall assessment: This is my favorite Oatmeal soap to date!

When my son was young I had to use oatmeal soaps on him since his skin was so sensitive and needed this kind of soothing. I wish Shannon (and the internet) were around then.
ReplyDeleteI'm not in the least bit surprised that you chose oatmeal soaps for your sons sensitive skin! No question that Shannon's soap would have been perfect for him then!
DeleteI don't care for oatmeal as ingredient but any soaps or cleansers that say honey and milk has me looking at it twice. Nice photo job with the oatmeal surrounding the soap!
ReplyDeleteOh, I am a sucker for honey and milk soaps and cleansers as well!! I'm glad that you liked that picture-- it was pretty funny dumping the oatmeal into a bowl and trying to catch the shot before Oliver (the ever curious kitty) was trying to stick his paw in the bowl to bat the oatmeal about! Come to think of it-- I should have probably let him do it and taken the picture that way!!LOL!
DeleteI love handmade soaps, I've tested one last summer and now I'm sure that this type is 100 times better than a regular soap and even better than a Lush solid soap!!!
ReplyDeletemhhh oatmeal and honey sound delicious ... ops great!
Have a nice Sunday
xoxo
Hi Valens, Me too! There is just something so fantastic about high quality handmade soaps! You know I haven't had a Lush solid soap in sooo very long! I agree the combination of oatmeal and honey is just delicious! You have a lovely remainder of the weekend as well! xoxoL
DeleteOatmeal seems to be such a great soothing skin ingredient - I know colloidal oatmeal is the key ingredient in a lot of Aveeno products and they work wonders on my sensitive skin. Loving the idea of an oatmeal soap, I don't know that we have Shannons down here but now I'll keep my eyes peeled for something similar. BTW I read your (and Liz's) lovely comments about me - I'm a little embarrassed *blushes* xo
ReplyDeleteIt really is. I thought about Aveeno as well. I remember using that for irritated skin when I was a kid! I still really like the Aveeno products. As far as I know you can only buy Shannon's Soaps from them directly, but they ship. I'm really loving this soap a lot!
DeleteI'm glad that you saw what Liz and I were saying! :-)!!!!!!!! xoxo
This sounds and looks very interesting. I have found oats to really help with my itchy skin in the past, but I am not a fan of bar soaps. It would be great if it was in a liquid form as well.
ReplyDeleteIt is quite lovely. Oats really do seem to do a lot for itchy skin! A liquid form would be fantastic!!
