Rouge Bunny Rouge- As If It Were Summer Still...Bronzing Glow Liquid Review & Swatches

I have not worn bronzer many times in my life, period. Oh sure, I have tried bronzers before- but I have a fair cool-toned olive complexion and as a general rule bronzers tend to oxidize and turn a horrid shade of orange on me.  They give me a sickly pallor, and you may wonder whether or not I have malaria when I wear bronzer- so I  avoid them like the plague (or malaria). That I am obsessed with Rouge Bunny Rouge is well documented, and if ever there was a line that could get me to consider trying a bronzer it would be RBR. It is therefore unsurprising that I was willing to try their liquid bronzer As If It Were Summer Still...Bronzing Glow Liquid.
When the Sun-God cries tears of joy, each precious drop is collected by the Fire Sprites in the Enchanted Garden. These precious drops are sent to all corners of the realm to bring the light and delight of Summer, in all seasons, in all weathers.

The Order of Rouge Bunny Rouge recreated this liquid-enchantment-in-a-bottle to polish your skin to a natural, even and radiant blissed-out halo of warmth. The subtle softness of the golden micro-particles contained within its heart will burnish you to glistening silk, all laid out on a reserved bed of summer. Anoint yourself, with this delicately exotic liquid, to remind you of spinning until light-headed under the dreamy light of the sun on a mid-summer’s day. Gloriously glamorous and inexorably captivating, you’ll be transformed into a Sun Angel, even in the midst of the greyest winter.

This liquid formula of the future will magnify your youth and summer glow timelessly. Giving a transparent, extremely luminous and smoothing finish. The health and beauty of the face and body are emphasised beyond comparison, by a natural lighting effect. Containing Hyaluronic Acid and a mix of Triglycerides to moisturise and smooth the skin and Grape Seed Oil restores the elasticity of the skin. It is anti-oxidant with the addition of Vitamin E, nourishes with Lime-tree Blossom Extract while Jojoba Oil protects against dehydration. Use on face or body, layer on for intensity or mix with moisturiser for an ethereally soft look.
Small tricks that Rouge Bunny Rouge suggests: For a subtle sun-kissed look use a little amount of our Bronzing Glow Liquid as a highlighter over MILK AQUARELLE and for moistured skin apply it directly over your day cream. Apply the liquid with your fingertips or with RBR Foundation Brush (# 009).  Create a completely natural look by mixing the Bronzing Glow Liquid with either Aqua Primer or Anti-ageing Moisturiser.Apply to the body (legs, arms, décolleté), wait for 5 minutes for it to dry and dress. It will not wear off on clothes.
This beauty neither oxidizes, nor turns orange on my skin- instead it imparts a lovely rich bronzey golden glow. Furthermore it is quite wearable- particularly so when it is added sparingly, or better yet mixed in with my foundation or tinted moisturizer (be warned- I applied it quite heavily in the swatches). The smell is unmistakably Rouge Bunny Rouge-- clean and pleasant. Likewise the texture and consistency boasts the high quality finish and refinement that one expects from this exceptional line of products. I received a large enough sample of this bronzer to get to know it well, and I have to say that it really is a delightful product. This just may be the liquid bronzer to end all liquid bronzers. I think that this is one that even fair cool-toned beauties--who have longed to find a bronzer that does not turn orange--will find surprisingly wearable and flattering. There is only one downside that I can think of, and that is the price. The price is quite high therefore it is a bit of a commitment. That said, a full size bottle will last you for a very very long time. My suggestion would be to request a sample on your next Zuneta or Beautyhabit order to see if you love it, and if you do- then you can order the full size without reservation.
Ingredients: Aqua, Ethylhexyl, Methoxycinnamate, Propylene Glycol, Cyclomethicone, Mica, Trisostearin, Potassium Cetyl Phosphate, Propylene Glycol Stearate, Glyceryl Stearate, Peg-100 Stearate, Choleth-24, Ceteth-24, Cetearyl Alcohol, Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Cholesteryl/Behenyl/Octyldodecyl Lauroyl Glutamate, Oryza Sativa, Glycerin, Benzophenone 3, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Dimethicone Copolyol, Dimethicone, Sorbic Acid, Methylparaben, Sodium Dehydroacetate, Propylparaben, Tetrasodium Edta, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Parfum, Xanthan Gum, Hectorite, Tilia Cordata, Sodium Hyaluronate, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Tocopherol, Benzyl Salicylate. Overall assessment: It is quite pricey running approximately $78.00 for a 50 ml bottle, but it will last you for ages because so little is needed. This is definitely the most lovely bronzer that I have tried to date. It neither oxidizes, nor turns orange on my skin. It is just as gorgeous as gorgeous can be! I have not decided whether or not I will purchase a full sized bottle because I'm not sure that I "need it" but I sure do love it!

  1. oh GOD--this is beautiful Lola! I haven't tried anything from RBR but the words "HG" and divine are thrown around quite often! I wonder how this compares to the Chanel Soleil de Tan Illuminating Fluid? I've been craving that one for a while too

    1. It really is supremely beautiful, Becca! I'm not sure how it would compare-- my mom had (may still have) The Chanel Soleil de Tan Illuminating fluid, and if memory serves it seemed more liquify than the RBR-- which has a little more of a liquify gel type of texture to it. This one really is gorgeous! Be careful-- once you fall down the RBR rabbit hole there really is no turning back-- it is an expensive, but supremely satisfying journey! xoxo

  2. I had a sample of this and loved it as well, the price does put me off a bit though, but never say never I guess ;) Great review as always x

    1. Thanks, Replica-- that means a great deal coming from you!! :) Yes, the price is definitely a bit off-putting. Even on sale it is expensive! So far it is the only bronzer that I have found that likes cool fair girls like us-- or at the very least that doesn't oxidize and end up looking horrifying on me! You are killing me with your Burberry reviews! I need another luxury brand like a hole in the head-- especially since I just bought a few things from Chantecaille, and more than a few things from Le Métier de Beauté!!xoxo

  3. I decided you should name the puppy Lemming because that's what you create with reviews like this!

    1. It really is lovely-- I think that I will just keep requesting samples when I make purchases because it is so costly. Maybe one of these days I will break down and buy a bottle. Are you thinking about taking the plunge and buying it?

  5. So so beautiful! Simply lovely, I nearly choked on the price tag though. I suppose I'll stick to my trust cheap cream bronzer.

    1. I couldn't agree more- it really is extraordinary, and the quality is just what you would expect from RBR. I agree- the price is quite high, and as a result I am very sparing with my sample!! I would be so happy to have the full sized bottle-- oh well! :)

  6. Oh Lola, you honestly made me smile with your sickly pallor ala-malaria introduction. I like entertaining blurbs like these! This is definitely a niche product. I haven't tried any liquid bronzer ever, I am stuck with powder types because they're easier to blend and use. It would be nice if this product has deluxe size for those who aren't in for long commitments like myself. xo

    1. LOL!! I'm so glad that I made you smile, Kath!! I like being entertained too-- so I'm glad that I was able to do that for you!!!!!! It is most definitely a niche product, and a very expensive one at that!! If I had piles of money sitting around begging to be spent I would definitely buy this, but it's just a bit more than I can spend on something that I wouldn't use every day-- or really "need" sigh! I agree- it would be nice if they had an "introduction" deluxe sample size!! Have a lovely weekend! xoxo

  7. Your swatches are beautiful, but I'm not sure I would spend $78 on it. Thank you for the post!

    1. Thanks, Moxie!! You and me both-- that's definitely more than I'm comfortable spending on a bronzer, but I am savoring every last bit of my sample!!! Have a lovely weekend! xx
