Kevyn Aucoin Eye Lash Curler Review

I have to be honest, I haven't ever really given much thought to eyelash curlers. I have had the same eyelash curler from Revlon for years and only would use it when I remembered. There is no question that I like the effect, but it was always a pretty forgettable step in my morning routine when I was rushing out the door. This all changed when I started using Kevyn Aucoin's Eyelash Curler-- this handy tool is an absolute game changer for me. There is such a  huge difference between these two eyelash curlers that it hardly warrants a comparison. Suffice it to say, the Revlon eyelash curler has been permanently retired. I often don't bother wearing mascara- so curling my lashes adds a different level of depth to my eye makeup, plus it frames my eyes in a way that uncurled lashes fail to do.

It is described as,
A slim, stainless steel tool for perfectly curled lashes. Create wonderfully curled lashes with this slim, professional-quality eyelash curler. Its sleek, stainless steel frame provides a firm grip while its curved rubber pad bends lashes to perfection. Plus, you can turn the curler upside down and curl your bottom lashes for a Hollywood-starlet look.

First of all the curling mechanism fits the shape of my eyes perfectly, and without any pinching or discomfort. The red rubber pad also has plenty of cushion allowing for a nice strong squeezing motion- rendering the most fantastic natural looking curled lashes. The grip feels great in the hand, and the curling portion opens up widely enough to make cleaning it very easy. It comes with a backup red rubber pad, but I haven't had to replace it yet. The rubber is very good quality and hasn't even started to show signs of wear, and I have been using it for over a year already. In my opinion there is absolutely no question that a high quality eyelash curler will outperform low-end models. The care with which it is constructed, the overall quality of the materials used, and the attention to the ergonomic details makes all of the difference in the world. I'm just not quite sure why it took me so long to make this discovery!

I know that so many people rave about the Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler, and it has been repeatedly suggested that the Kevyn Aucoin Eyelash Curler is very similar, but I have never used the one by Shu Uemura so I can't possibly make a comparison between them.

Overall assessment: I love it! It is something that I didn't even know that I needed!!

  1. I had the same Revlon curler too! and didn't think much about. I got the limited edition one from Chanel...my reason was silly, just cause it said and was Chanel...haha :) but it works really well. I was pretty surprised! I dumped my Revlon!

    1. That's so funny that you had the same experience that I did with those old Revlon curlers!! Trust me, I saw the Chanel curler you got and almost bought it for the exact same reason!!! It's so amazing what a difference good tools make!!
