MoroccanOil Intense Hydrating Mask | Review

Press Sample (Unaffiliated Links)

I love to mask my hair, but it is something that I tend to do with greater frequency during the colder months of the year. In part, I privilege this time of the year because I usually color my hair after the summer months to restore my hair back to its natural color. My hair, though brunette, tends to become far more reddened during the summer, and during the cool months I prefer my natural darker hue. Since color treatments are hard on the tresses, and even harder on curly hair that leans dry, it is imperative to do what one can to nourish and treat those traumatized locks. I have two go-to treatments: hair oils and hair masks, and this is something that I have done for many, many years.

MoroccanOil Intense Hydrating Mask, one of my personal favorites, is a very creamy and rich deep conditioner that is designed to hydrate and repair all types of hair– including dry and damaged hair. This Argan Oil enriched mask tames frizz, improves texture, deeply hydrates and conditions without leaving hair greasy or weighed down, and it restores manageability. Furthermore, it gives hair a gorgeous shine and bounce. I also noted that my curly hair forms perfect ringlets without any coaxing whatsoever.

MoroccanOil Intense Hydrating Mask has a warm, creamy fragrance that I find delicious. It lingers in my hair for a couple of hours before fading away, but I love the scent so much that I wouldn't mind if it lingered all day!

While MoroccanOil suggests leaving it on for 5-7 minutes, I often leave it on under a hair turban for about 30 minutes while I mask my face, and then get back in the shower to remove both masks. The increased time isn't necessary, but my curly hair definitely benefits from the added time.

According to Moroccanoil,

Treat yourself to a quick, reviving five-minute hair mask. Moroccanoil Intense Hydrating Mask is a high-performance, rich and creamy deep conditioner formulated for medium to thick, dry hair. Infused with antioxidant-rich argan oil and nourishing ingredients, it hydrates and conditions while dramatically improving hair's texture, elasticity, shine and manageability.

Directions: Apply a generous amount of Moroccanoil® Intense Hydrating Mask to towel-dried hair and comb through. Leave on for 5–7 minutes and rinse thoroughly. No heat required. Use 1–2 times weekly.

TIP: For deeper conditioning, mix in a few drops of Moroccanoil Treatment when using this hair mask.

Ingredients: Aqua/Water/Eau, Cetearyl Alcohol, Argania Spinosa (Argan) Kernel Oil, Glycerin, Dimethicone, Cetrimonium Chloride, Cetyl Alcohol, Behentrimonium Chloride, Isopropyl Alcohol, Parfum/Fragrance, Dmdm Hydantoin, Citric Acid, Ci 19140 (Yellow 5), Linum Usitatissimum (Linseed) Seed Extract, Ci 15985 (Yellow 6), Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Hydroxyisohexyl 3-Cyclohexene Carboxaldehyde, Linalool, Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone. Made in Israel.
Overall Assessment: This mask works wonders on my curly hair, and it not only restores moisture and manageability, but it also gives my hair a beautiful glossy shine– which is hard to achieve with dry, curly hair! I will definitely purchase a big jar as soon as I finish this one! #love #moroccanoil

  1. I haven't tried their haircare products but I bought a full size of the body cream after receiving a deluxe sample in one of the Barney's beauty bags. The scent is heavenly. I'd love to try this next!

  3. This is probably too heavy for my hair type, but it does sound perfect. I do find I can cheat a bit and use heavier treatment conditioners like this with reverse washing though.

    1. I don't find it particularly heavy, but it might be worth trying to get a sample to see what you think about it. It makes sense that reverse washing would be a good method wit many conditioners!

  5. I have this mask and can't use it all the time, but during the winter, it does wonders for my hair. It tends to leave my scalp too oily if I use during the summer, but my hair drinks it up in the winter ;)

    1. That's interesting that you can't use it all year round– is it because of the weather in Hawaii?
