Stowaway Cosmetics is an innovative makeup line that features products that are about half the size of regular makeup. That their products are diminutive in size not only makes them infinitely portable, but also about half the price of normal department store makeup. This Indie line offers travel-friendly products that are made small enough to actually finish them up before they expire, and this paradigm shifting thinking is very economical and smart.

About Stowaway Cosmetics,

Stowaway was born over breakfast (and too many cups of coffee), when Chelsa Crowley and Julie Fredrickson were comparing makeup bags and venting over never finding the cosmetics they loved in the sizes that better fit their lives. Both were frustrated by the large, heavy items that always expired before they were finished. Julie had what she liked to call a “free gift with purchase problem” and bought sets and subscriptions just so she could get to the sizes she preferred. Knowing they weren’t the only ones fed-up, they decided to create Stowaway.

Luckily, together they had the perfect skillset to create a brand. Chelsa who began her career as a makeup artist, worked in-house at Clinique for many years and more recently worked on editorial and online content for Bobbi Brown. Julie spent her entire e-commerce and entrepreneurial career in digital marketing. They joke that they are the yin to each other's yang and came together to offer smart beauty solutions to women just like them.

Stowaway Cosmetics Cheek & Lip Rouge in Peony ($15.00 from Stowaway Cosmetics): This multitasking pot rouge has a creamy consistency, it glides across the skin effortlessly, and deposits color evenly. It neither dries skin, nor does it emphasize fine lines or pores. Peony is a gorgeous mid-tone pink that can be sheered out for a subtle wash of color, or built up for intensity. It is available in three shades: Burnt Rose, Peony and Cantaloupe.

According to Stowaway,

One-third the size of an average blush, our pot rouge makes touch-ups in tiny spaces a breeze. This smooth formula softens into a cream at body temperature, giving you buildable color with a silky, matte finish.

Cocoa seed butter, shea butter, and apricot kernel oil are natural emollients to keep your skin softly, conditioned and provide the perfect slip in the formula for easy application. Grape seed oil is a natural antioxidant and was added to soothe your skin.

PRO TIPS: Lightly dab on the apples of your cheek and blend for a flushed, natural look. Try applying on lips for a matte stain or under a coat of gloss for soft color. This cream formula can double as a base under your regular powder blush or can be applied over top of a bronzer for those winter months.

Peony, a gorgeous pink, glides across the lips effortless, deposits color evenly, it does not settle into lip lines, and leaves lips hydrated, soft and supple. It has the perfect amount of cushion– making it a very comfortable-to-wear lipstick, and in spite of its emollience, I get several hours of wear from a single application. Whether you prefer a sheer wash of color, or a more pigmented intense lip, this lipstick delivers.

Stowaway Effortless Eyeliner in Spice ($10.00 from Stowaway Cosmetics): This tiny eyeliner is absolutely the perfect size for carrying in a makeup bag, and it is such a joy to use. Not only does its diminutive size allow for greater control, and a more precise application, but applies effortlessly without any tugging. It glides across the skin with great ease, it deposits color evenly without skipping, and it sets in about 30 seconds– which gives you ample time to work before it sets. I don't have oily eyelids, but once it set it neither migrated, nor did it smudge. Spice is a wonderful brown shade that isn't too red, as are many brown liners, but if you prefer a black liner it is also available in Jet.

PRO TIPS: Twist eyeliner to reveal its tip and apply to your upper and lower lash line for definition. Try smudging lash line for a softer smokey look. Don't forget to twist liner down before putting the lid back on!

Stowaway Cosmetics Defined Lash Mascara ($12.00 from Stowaway Cosmetics): This mascara, which is only available in black, defines, volumizes and lengthens lashes without any smudging or flaking. Furthermore, it contains no irritating fragrance, which often makes my eyes itch, and therefore I can wear it all day long without incident.

PRO TIPS: Start from the base of your lash line and shimmy the brush back and forth along your lashes. Try waiting 15 seconds before applying a second coat for more impact.

Overall Assessment: I love the concept of this line, and I am very impressed by the quality of their products. I definitely want to further explore this line!
