This palette is so gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteHi Jamie! It really is amazing!
DeleteThanks for the swatches, Helen! I have long hoped Hourglass would make more eyeshadows, so this is a bit like a dream come true! This is a palette with nice, soft mattes. The quality looks excellent! Very tempting :)
ReplyDeleteYou are so welcome, Sunny! It is a dream come true! The center and far right shades do have some shimmer, but the others are definitely more matte. It's really stunning!
DeleteThis is beautiful - almost a work of art!
ReplyDeleteIt really is beautiful, and I think that it is definitely a work of art! :-)
DeleteThis palette is GORGEOUS!
ReplyDeleteIt's AMAZING, Kristin! :-)
DeleteIt truly looks like a work of art. Sadly, I don't think I'll be able to get my hands on it but it is beautiful that is for sure!
ReplyDeleteIt's definitely GORGEOUS! Hopefully you can get your hands on it! :-)
DeleteThis is one exquisite palette! It's almost a work of art in itself! I would be too afraid to use it, haha!!
ReplyDeleteI agree-- it is truly exquisite, Dani. I think that it's definitely a beautiful work of art itself! I felt guilty sticking my fingers in such a thing of beauty! LOL!
DeleteNow I need this too! Darn you for making my wishlist grow! This palette is like an art piece. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteLOL! This is DEFINITELY worth getting, Valesha! Sorry for making your wishlist grow :-) I agree-- it's definitely a work of art itself! :-)
DeleteHi Helen :)
ReplyDeleteThe palette looks gorgeous! Thanks for posting swatches. I love Hourglass, unfortunately I already have too many colors similar to those shades. Since this palette is exclusive to Barneys do you know if they will be releasing any other eyeshadow palettes anytime soon that may be available in Sephora or directly from Hourglass cosmetics?
x Naomi
Hi Naomi <3
DeleteIt is absolutely gorgeous! As I understand it there will be other shadows coming out, but I don't have any dates. I'm sure that you will be able to get them where their makeup is sold. I think that they have some really great things coming! <3 Helen
I'm not certain if this will be available anywhere in Canada, but it is really lovely. I'm curious if you think it could be mimicked using shades from Urban Decay's Naked 3 palette (if you have it)? It does look sort of similar. I just hope that the Modernist palettes come here sooner than later!
ReplyDeleteHi Kate,
DeleteI don't know if they will ever distribute this palette beyond Barneys since it is an exclusive to commemorate their 10 year collaboration, but who knows what the future holds. They will have other shadows coming out before too long as I understand it.
I don't own UD's Naked 3, but am very familiar with it. I don't think they are that similar, but actually feel that the Naked Basics2 might be closer to the spirit of the HG palette-- though it appears to be a bit more purple than HG-- plus the shimmer in the third and fifth shades in the HG palette are more complex and interesting. That said, it is a neutral palette that you could probably approximate through the use of what you already have from your RBR shadows and other lovely neutrals that you have in your stash. :-)
I'm still not sure whether I like this design or not, but the eyeshadows are of beautiful quality!
ReplyDeleteHi Deborah, Each color strip is wide enough that it isn't difficult to access the individual colors, but since they are not in separate pans there will likely be times that one hits the neighboring pan unintentionally once the palette starts to get some wear. The quality is outstanding, and the shadows are definitely gorgeous and silky smooth! You certainly the only one who is on the fence about the design itself, and I didn't know how I would feel about it until I actually saw it in person, and then I swooned at its beauty!
DeleteJust gorgeous. I think that I have to buy it now!
ReplyDeleteI agree, J! It's crazy beautiful, that's for sure. I don't think that you will regret the purchase should you decide to make it! HAPPY HALLOWEEN! <3
DeleteShut the front door I need this so bad! OMG!
ReplyDeleteI know, Right?!!!!!!!!! This palette would be perfection on you, Brooke!
DeleteUm WOW! That is stunning!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you, Cari! I was salivating as I was swatching it!
Deletethat's lovely to look at but thankfully i'm not super into nudes! my wallet is heaving a huge sigh of relief!
ReplyDeleteIt is gorgeous, but definitely a savings for you if you aren't looking to add neutrals to your collection of eyeshadows! A sigh of relief to the wallet here, but doesn't that just mean that you might splurge elsewhere instead? LOL! Happy Halloween!
Deletewell naturally since the we're in the midst of F&F sales and in another month we'll have black friday/cyber mon to contend with! happy halloween!
ReplyDeleteExactly! So many beautiful ways to overspend LOL!
DeleteIt reminds me of the UD Naked 2 Basics palette. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThat's exactly what I said to Kate above! We are totally on the same page here! Like I said to her the main difference would be the center and far right shades which differ from the UD Palette. The center shade is more of a plumy taupe brown, and the far right is a sooty charcoal (both contain some shimmer). It's a beautiful palette, but if you already have UD Naked2 it may not be a must-have.
DeleteI don't like how it's blends into a new shade but the colors are really pretty.
ReplyDeleteThankfully each of the colors are wide enough that your brush won't accidentally bump into the wrong color when you are in the center of the strip of color, but it will be unavoidable if you are working toward the edge.I agree that the colors are very pretty, and the texture is superb! :-)
DeleteI really need the ambient blushes palette... but this one, it looks much nicer than the sneaks I have been seeing on instagram... thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHi Honey,
DeleteThe Ambient Blush palette is amazing. The lighting in Barneys makes it difficult to capture the palette as well as I would have liked, but it does give you a good idea of what it looks like. I'm so glad that you found it useful! :-)
Super pretty, really like the look of that plummy taupe. Hourglass could do with adding more shadows to the line up as the formula is really lovely.
ReplyDeleteIt really is pretty, Clare! The plummy taupe is definitely a beautify shade. It's definitely nice to see them adding more shadows to the lineup! I agree that their formula is wonderful!
DeleteGreat review and pictures!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Missy! I'm so glad that you liked it!
DeleteSeriously lovely palette!
ReplyDeleteI agree completely! :-)
DeleteHi Lola,
ReplyDeleteI just reviewed this palette and compared to others. I also linked your post. I was wondering, why do you classify it as "must have"? I think it is highly dupable and 1 g of product for $58. I am having hard time to understand the hype behind it.
Hi Sara!! <3 I just jumped over and read your fantastic review, and will go back and comment, but didn't want to make you wait for my response! :-) First of all, your review and comparison was absolutely fantastic! You really put the price point into sharp focus, and it definitely makes Tom Ford's quads seem like a real bargain.
DeleteI classified it as a must-have because of the fabulously finely-milled creamy dreamy texture and beautiful neutral cool-leaning palette that is so artfully presented in undulating waves. That said, I think that the price point (price per gram analysis) won't prevent this from being a must-have for Hourglass loyalists-- particularly since it is their only current e/s offering. I do think that you have a very valid point about it being dupable because it is a neutral palette after all, and there are just so many wonderful neutral palettes to choose from at a whole variety of price points. I do think that the colors are lovely, and as you pointed out the cooler leaning hues will work better on those with cooler skin than say TF Coco Mirage. In terms of hype, I think that there is always a great rush of excitement every time that Hourglass launches a new product, and so many have been waiting for their new eyeshadows since the others were phased out. I do think, however, that your insightful post and your gram to gram comparison may give many people pause before purchasing if they are looking for overall value and dupes-- especially when luxury lines such as Tom Ford begin to sound like a bargain comparatively give the amount of product in each quad. However the excellent quality, lovely colors and brand loyalty to Hourglass keeps people coming back for more!
